This is a white metal landing gear set for the Kittyhawk 1/32 OS2U Kingfisher aircraft.

The white metal parts are outstanding and are a great replacement for the already well details kit parts. The parts include the main two struts and support struts plus the rear wheel assembly.

The parts are well cast, the parts were a perfect fit to the existing mount and were a dream to assemble.

I highly recommend these parts are a great addition to an already extremely well detailed kit.

The book is a Photo album of photographs taken from the German perspective of Dunkirk in 1940.

The book contains many photograph’s never before published and makes this a fascinating book.

All the pictures give some great views from the German side and allows you to see Dunkirk form a very different direction to the normal publications. I was particularly impressed with the pictures showing vehicle’s and the sunken ships of the beach.

I recommend this book to everyone with a interest in the Dunkirk

This is a re-issue of a kit first issued in 2015. It is an excellent kit in the Hasegawa range and is very easy to build as long as you watch the instruction details carefully.

In the box is:

• 2 x black rubber sprues
• 2 x orange sprues

• 1 length of hose
• 1 decal sheet
• 4 x poly caps
• 1 mesh sheet

The sprues are extremely well molded with no flash and great detail. The parts are all molded in the correct colors so if the build is done well there is no need to do much painting.

Construction

Stage 1 Assembly begins with the female driver, I left the arms off as these need to be positioned correctly once in the cabin seat.

When I was a kid of about eleven living in Lincoln, Nebraska, I used to regularly visit one special park there. That's because not only did they have an open Sherman tank you could crawl around on, but a real live ex-Korean Corsair. I spent many a happy Saturday afternoon inside the cockpit or wandering over the wings of that aircraft, and ever since then I've had something of a love affair with this bent-wing beauty.

As a modeler, I translated this love into 1/32nd scale ever since high school. I've built the Revell kit too many times to mention, the 21st Century Toys version and the Trumpeter version. However, nothing I have ever seen compares to the quality of the Tamiya rendition of this bird.

History Brief

The Fw 190F-8 was based on the A-8 Fighter, having a slightly modified injector on the compressor which allowed for increased performance at lower altitudes for several minutes.

Armament of the Fw 190 F-8 was two 20 mm MG 151/20 cannon in the wing roots and two 13 mm (.51 in) MG131 machine guns above the engine. It was outfitted with an ETC 501 Bomb rack as centerline mount and four ETC 50 bomb racks as underwing mounts.

Starting with the first photo etch set I commenced cutting the parts from the plastic kit and preparing them for modification, and boy I was not prepared for the work that lay ahead of me. It was very detailed and precise to the very end so close attention is required.

About the Item

What we have here is a very detailed replacement propeller, hub and mechanism for the recently released Revell FW-190 F-8 Kit.

What’s in the Box?

The box comes with a total of 7 resin pieces of light and dark gray color and one photoetch template. These parts are designed to replace the Revell parts, which are nice, but not nearly as detailed as the Eduard Brassin line of resin accessories.

These propeller parts are in my opinion a must and very cheap quality add-on for modelers who would prefer a little more realism and quality in their masterpiece.

Master-Model released these closely related aftermarket barrel + pitot upgrade sets for the early (i.e. B/C/MkII) 1/32 P-40 tool that exists. The two upgrade sets, designated U.S. Version and British Version respectively, are so closely related that it makes sense to review them both at the same time. I have the Hobby Craft kit (Trumpeter tool re-boxed with AVG decals) and a good friend of mine has the Trumpeter kit which sports the British markings on the box top – so I had a keen interest in looking at these Master-Model offerings and comparing the components to their kit counterparts. September of 1972, during the Olympics, a terrorist attack on the Olympic Village aimed at Israeli athletes was broadcast, world-wide, on television. This, certainly, was not the first use of terrorism to achieve a political goal, and it wasn’t the last, but it was the first such attack to draw the attention of the world to the crisis, and to do so "live and on TV".

The author, Leigh Neville, creates a roadmap of terror attacks and those Counter Terrorist Units that have been created and trained to stop them. With excellent, full-color illustrations of men in uniform by Adam Moore, this book provides, in clear and concise detail, the evolution of terrorist attacks from Munich, in 1972, to the current year of publication, 2017. Both attackers and defenders have evolved, changing tactics, techniques, weapons, and gear. That evolutionary process continues up to today, and will surely continue in years to follow.

Short History

As everyone to include Everyone should know the Spitfire is the MOST iconic aircraft to ever grace the skies…. that last part probably a personal opinion but it did save the British mainland and helped turn the tide of battle against the Luftwaffe during the battle of Britain.

What’s in the Box?

The Single 50 liters drop tank comes packaged insides a little plastic baggie with both resin pieces on a single pore stub and small photoetched fret. The Resin is Molded in light gray and while I am not very familiar with Brengun products the parts are flawless and not a single air bubble or flaw to be found. The photoetched is quite sturdy and shiny but nothing a little heat and sandpaper can’t fix.

This is the Scale Aircraft Conversions (SAC) white metal landing gear replacement option for the Special Hobby 1/32 Yak-3 kits. If you have built in 1/32 scale you have probably wondered at some point if the kit provided plastic landing gear will adequately support the model’s weight. These SAC items are primarily intended to address any strength concerns, but there are two other advantages to using white metal landing gear: You can very slightly bend the main strut into perfect alignment once installed, and the oleo can be fine sanded to a very shiny and realistic finish.

Observations

These Yak-3 SAC landing gear pieces match very closely the kit molds. The main struts are slightly but noticeably shorter when compared directly to their kit counterparts, but it seems the smaller supporting strut pieces are proportionately shorter as well - so this should not ill affect the resulting angle of the gear or final stance of the aircraft.

As we all know the FW-190 and all of its variants have been manufactured in one form or another by just about all major kit companies, this particular item being reviewed though is for the newly released Revell kit.

What’s in the Box?

The box comes with a total of 8 white metal pieces of all varying sizes all replicating the kit parts very accurately and adding some needed strength to support the aircraft. The Landing gear comes packaged in the typical SAC cardboard and bubble blister packaging we are all accustomed to seeing.

The Build

This is a pain-free operation and only required a little time and elbow grease using a couple of files and some sanding paper as white metal pieces can be porous and also have little burs that need to filed and sanded down, so that also means a little safety is required.

What’s in the Box?

This Eduard Brassin set is for the Eduard Fw 190A-8 kit. The set includes detail parts to add to a highly detailed engine to replace the simple kit piece and make for a very detailed open paneled butcher bird.

The resin and photoetch parts inside the box looked great and are very well molded and even the etched parts, while microscopic, provide an added value and level of detail.

The 20 included items are as followed in this boxing breakdown:

• 8 Replacement panels and propeller cowling
• 1 Photoetched fret to include harnesses, fuel lines, wiring and chain assemblies

The Engine Buildup

The assembly instructions are very clear and detailed but very busy at times and will definitely have you looking at front and backs, and taking this thing apart frequently to test fit.

History

The SU-85 was a self-propelled gun. It was developed on the T-34 medium tank Chassis which also resembled the SU-122 assault gun. It was produced from 1943 through mid-1944. The 85-mm gun allowed the SU-85 to effectively hit enemy medium tanks at a range of over 1,000 meters and was able to destroy a Tiger tank from this range, rendering it a very capable weapon against the newer German tanks.

Kit Facts

This kit is a Soviet SU-85 captured and put into service by the German army during WW II. This model is extremely detailed. It has workable track links, and five figures representing the crew. It has a total of 712 parts, 627 of which are plastic, 75 that are photo etched, 10 clear plastic parts, a decal sheet and an instruction booklet.

Assembly

When I opened the box I was absolutely awe struck with the number of sprues and parts. The sprues are literally jam packed in the box and neatly wrapped in plastic bags.

Thank you, Bob Sanchez, for another beautiful set of decals and this set is a little more important. Capt. Jeff Kuss was a Colorado native on top of being a Top Aviator. Why would this set have some relevance to myself you ask? Well maybe due to the fact I'm currently active duty and stationed about 2 hours from where he was laid to rest. David Doyle’s latest book is one of the initial entries into a new series called ‘Legends of Warfare’ with entries in Ground, Naval, and Aviation. The first Ground book is focused on the Panzerkampfwagen IV, the first Naval book was on the USS Yorktown (CV-5), and the first two Aviation books are on the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk (#4) and Douglas TBD Devastator (#3). This tome is the second release in the Legends of Warfare – Naval series.

Aircraft and History

The De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito, commonly called “Mossie” or “Wooden Wonder” was a fast, twin engine multi-role aircraft developed and operated during WWII. The Mosquito could operate as a bomber or be fitted with guns (in the nose or in bomb bay) and operate as an effective fighter. Speed was one of the Mosquitos best defensive assets where this aircraft was faster than most piston powered fighters Germany operated. The Mosquito was very capable at high altitude, low altitude, daytime and night operations.

Construction of the Mosquito consisted mostly of wood which was beneficial since “strategic material” (metal) was in high demand during WWII and small “cottage industries” were capable of building parts for the Mosquito and reducing the aircraft manufacturing demand during war time. Some mosquitos were fitted with a “glass” nose while others contained four machine guns and others contained a radar for night fighting operations.

The MiniArt German Passsenger Car Typ 170V Saloon 4 Doors kit is a 1/35^th scale kit ideal for dioramas. This is the 5^th incarnation of the MiniArt Mercedees 170V kit and includes the addition of a single female figure. There is a total of 265 parts supplied on 7 grey spue of simi-soft grey plastic with the body cast in one piece and boxed separately, 1 sprue of crystal clear plastic, 1 card of photo-etched brass, and a set of decals that include 11 different marking options. The detail is beautiful and exquisitely cast with no flash and only the subtlest of seams, which are easily removed. The instruction booklet includes beautiful color pictures of the 11 different options as well as well rendered cad drawings of each 48 steps. Color call outs are broken down for Ammo Mig, Humbrol, Mr. Color, Testors and Vallejo paints.

As we all know the Spitfire should not need an introduction, after all there were over 24 versions or Mks that existed throughout its illustrious history.

The box comes with a total of 6 white metal pieces to replicate the kit parts very accurately and adding some needed strength to support the aircraft especially with larger 32^nd scale aircraft as we tend to do a lot of scratch building and the use of “goodies”. The Landing gear comes packaged in the typical SAC cardboard and bubble blister packaging we are all accustomed to seeing.

The Build

This is a pain free operation and only required a little time along with TLC using couple of sanding sticks, a fine diamond file I also use for PE and my battery powered dremel with a 280-grit abrasive buff wheel.

Intro

This kit was introduced in February of 2017. It is a follow-on to Dragon releases of the Magach 1 and 2 and 3. It is listed under the 6 Day war series. The kit includes the newer parts to add the ERA tiles but also includes the earlier parts to build the earlier Magach versions. Parts like the 90mm gun, back deck and grill doors and mantlet. Research should be done to identify the appropriate versions of parts included so you back-rev the kit with the correct parts.

Recently I was given the opportunity by IPMS USA to review Aires T-28 Trojan air brake assembly for the 1/32 Kitty Hawk T-28 Trojan kit. One of the first things to notice with this product is the excellent presentation of the packaging with the sealed flap on the back of package to allow for easy access to parts.

Upon removal of all the different parts that make up the air brake assembly you will notice the great detail that we have come to expect from Aires QB products. The molding and detail on the parts are excellent and they come off the resin block with little effort along with the help of an X-Acto blade or razor saw.

With the release of the wonderful Tamiya F-14A kit, the decals are coming from Furball Aero-Design to dress up your kit with some of the most striking and memorable markings. This set is titled “Sundowners Anthology” and covers the F-14A as flown by VF-111 Sundowners that cruises with the USS Carl Vinson and USS Kitty Hawk. VFA-111 can trace its history back all the way to 1942 flying Grumman Wildcats. The set includes markings for nineteen (yup, nineteen) VF-111 F-14A’s and covers all of the major and some minor schemes flown by the squadron.

Master-Model produces exact brass/resin parts that will make your model stand out. This time Master-Model has produced a detail set for the 1/72 P-40 B/C British version that consists of brass cowling blast tubes, backup external gun sights, British style pitot tube and British style .303 brass wing guns. The plastic packaging separates the various items, some of which are very tiny, and hopefully reduces the chance of losing said small parts. An instruction sheet is provided that shows you where the items go and the size of the drill you'll need to use. The dimensions are in metric so I converted them into the English system and marked the instruction sheet with the sizes, see photos.

Master Model is a Polish company that makes aftermarket brass gun and cannon barrels, pitot tubes and other replacement parts for scale model aircraft, ships and armor. The finesse and detail of these parts are nothing short of spectacular.

For this review, I have used Eduard’s 1/48 Hawker Tempest that was issued several years ago. It is the perfect candidate for these parts as no cannon barrels are included, just holes in the wing leading edge. The pitot tube will be used on my Hobby Craft kit of a later model Royal Australian Navy Sea Fury (or the forth coming Airfix version). The Eduard Tempest is a late WWII aircraft that makes use of the under wing “L” shaped pitot.

The parts come nicely packed in a small zip-lock bag with a cardboard label stapled over the top. The parts are then packed in their own smaller bag backed in front of another piece of cardboard that helps protect the items further. An instruction sheet is located within the rear of the package.

This Osprey book covers one of the most ignored campaigns of the later stages of the Civil War. Mark Lardas does a very good job of covering the leadership, the units and the strategies of this campaign.

The book is divided into the following sections/chapters

Eduard has released the latest in their great line of 1/48 scale Bf-110 kits. The Bf-110F night and heavy fighter. It follows in a long line of Bf-110 kits and is a welcome addition to the lineup.

Construction

Construction is broken down into two major subsections, one for the fuselage and one for the wings and rudders. The fuselage comes first, starting with the cockpit. Eduard’s directions shine in that they show what parts are replaced or enhanced by the Photo Etch and what needs to be done to the part prior to PE application.
