Modelers have waited a long time for a kit of the first generation Ford Bronco and Revell has finally done it! This kit can be built as a 1971 or 1973 version (an air cleaner option) with the included 289 V8 engine. With the help of Jeff Trapp’s Bronco Graveyard in Brighton, MI, Revell has made a faithful representation of the first Ford SUV. I’m pretty sure that we’ll be seeing other versions of this rugged 4X4 too.

Molded in color and featuring colorful stickers this kit is the perfect “first model” for young builders. You will need one tool – a small Phillips head screwdriver to affix the body to the chassis. There are 35 pieces molded in black, gray and clear with vinyl tires to go with the pre-painted body. This is a “curbside” kit with no real motor and the interior and… more

Magirus-Deutz 360M19 Canvas Truck

Published:
Company: Italeri

After WWII Germany’s auto/truck industry was desperate for customers. The famous Deutz motors were mated to the Magirus haulers and they filled the Autobahn with their workhorse trucks. Magirus even found buyers in their former enemy; and sold thousands of units to the Russians.

This review covers the skill level 3 (ages 14 years and older) Magirus-Deutz 360M19 Canvas Truck 1:24 Scale Italeri Model Kit #3912. Aside from needing paint and glue, the reason this is a skill level 3 kit is because of the sheer amount of parts and large decals. It is just a great fitting kit with well detailed parts. I would say that an intermediate builder could easily assemble this into a nice display with little trouble. The cab has been issued in previous kits but the molds are still crisp. The… more

Company: Revell

Hurst Performance started working with Oldsmobile in the late sixties and by the time the ‘80’s rolled around they had perfected not only the hi performance “Lightening” shifter but the awesome looking black over silver appearance package featured on the ’83 Hurst Olds.

Construction and Detailing

This review covers the skill level 4 (ages 12 years and older) 1983 Hurst Oldsmobile 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4317. The reason this is a skill level 4 kit is because of the need for paint and some delicate decals. I would say that an intermediate builder could easily assemble this into a nice display with some patience. This is a brand new mold and it fills a gap in the auto model catalog with a long sought mid-eighties Olds kit. The kit has 94 pieces and is nicely… more

1967 Nickey Camaro RS-SS 427

Published:
Company: Revell

When Ford released the Mustang and started the “Pony Car” era in 1964, GM scrambled to answer the market with the release of the Camaro in 1967. Savvy dealerships (like Nickey Chevrolet) jumped on the performance aspects of the platform by ordering a version which featured the high-powered 427 CID engine. Sporting iconic red line tires, this model kit does a good job of replicating those classic cars.

This review covers the skill level 5 (ages 14 years and older) 1967 Nickey Camaro RS-SS 427 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4377. 1954 Hudson Hornet Special

Published:
Company: Moebius Models

The Moebius website sums up this vehicle by noting,

The Special was a fastback version of the 1954 Hudson Hornet favored by stock class drag racers in the 1960's. Complete with the high performance 308 Hudson engine, this kit replicates this unusual car in 1/25 scale.

In its purely stock form this car was still a hallmark of speed and handling. By ’55 the innovation of Hudson would begin to yield to the corporate manufacturers sporting V-8 engines, but in 1954 the “Hornet” was still the one to beat!

The phenomenon that began with the TV Series Star Trek has permeated American culture since the inimitable sixties when our favorite villains, the Klingon’s, invaded our space. The Kit

This review covers the AMT Klingon Bird of Prey (BoP) 1:350 Scale AMT Model Kit #949. This kit is molded in light green styrene which is a close approximation of the final color and could be built as such. On the other hand, for the best look, painting and highlighting the model is needed.
