The P-51 Mustang. An icon of WWII held in the same esteem as the Spitfire, Thunderbolt and Hurricane by enthusiasts and historians alike. Aviation historian martin W, Bowman has compiled a wonderful album of photos of all marks that saw combat, from the P-51A to the F-82G.

Some of these photos will be familiar to all, but many are new or have seldom been seen. There are nine pages of introductory text that give a brief overview of the history of the mustang from April 1940 when NAA proposed a new design to the British through its final military service with the Dominican Air Force, last flight of which occurred in 1984.

Each of the photos has a fully informative caption giving the needed information. The only “funny” thing is on the cover it advertises “Rare photographs from Naval Archives” which is corrected on the inside cover page where “Nava;” becomes the far more accurate” Wartime”!

This book is Number 43 of the “Middle Est War” series. The book is divided into eight sections from the takeover of the BA’ATH party in July, 1968 through the Iranian conflict in 1980. Some of the chapters/sections are in turn subdivided into sections explaining the chapter better. As stated above the book contains 86 photos of which 34 are of specific IrAF personalities, with seven of squadron personnel and the rest (45) being of airplanes.

The first chapter talks about how the BA’ATH Party through a coup-d-etat took over control of the country. The second chapter explains the Arab-Israeli war of 1974/75. The next three chapters touch on three individuals: Dulaymin, Sh’bans and Saddam Hussein. The last chapter touches on the IrAF of 1980.

Stephen Ransom was born in Oxfordshire, England, and studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Salford. He was employed by various companies' advanced projects offices in the aircraft industry, and also worked for some time in the space industry. He has a deep interest in the history of British and German aviation.

Hans-Hermann Cammann was born in Celle, Germany. He grew up watching his father fly model aircraft as a hobby and took a deep interest in the history of the Me 163 and the men who flew it. He's become a regular guest at annual reunions. He was a serving officer in the Bundeswehr.

The resin is well molded with very no flash and are well detailed. The resin parts are to allow you to make the two Tiny Tim Rockets and 2 spare tail fins.

Construction

First is the removal of the parts from Resin. You should be careful removing the main tail fins as they are easily damaged and hence two additional parts are provided.

The build is very easy and simple. The only thing to be aware of is that tail fins tabs are too big wide for the slots in the resin mating rocket body. So, you will need to file them down.
