This is number 29 in the FlightCraft series and covers the Boeing B-29 Superfortress. This is the first of this series of books I have had the pleasure to see and review. The book is broken down into 8 sections with the first 45 pages of the book dealing with the real aircraft. These pages cover the design and development, the aircraft in detail. The aircraft in service, variants including the USSR and Chinese Tu-4s and camo and marking. The next 8 pages are 24 color profiles from WWII, Korea, post war, as well as the warbird FiFi and B-50s.

The remaining 42 pages are dedicated to modeling the B-29. The various kits, aftermarket details and decals are covered. Build journals are there on the Monogram/Revell 1/48 kit built as “Enola Gay”. The Academy 1/72 kit as “Bockscar”. Another Academy 1/72 kit built as early camouflaged B-29 “Monsoon McGoon”. Concluding the book is the build of yet another 1/72 Academy B-29 this time built as the B-29 in British service, known in the RAF as the Washington!

I really like how this series blends in both the aircraft history and building models of said aircraft. If you are interested in the B-29 and want to build a model of it, this is the book for you! Highly recommended to modelers for the many interesting schemes and to anyone with an interest in aviation history and the B-29! My thanks to Casemate for the review copy and to IPMS/USA for the review opportunity!
