Panzerwaffe on the Battlefield 3Published:
This book is number 23 of The World War II Photobook Series. As the title implies this book is a series of photos taken on the battlefield. You will find quite a collection of German AFV in many locations, as well as condition. There are photos of German AFV in pristine condition, in battle, as well as those destroyed. Most of the photos are accredited to Peter Kocsis, with one accredited to Paul Johnson and 5 to The Archives of Modern Conflict. All photos have interesting subjects and many may be a good source of dioramas. Although you may expect all the photos to contain German military personnel, you will find several with American personnel in the photo. The photos contain captions in both Hungarian, as well as English. The translations are very good and describe the event… more |

World War II Snipers, The Men, Their Guns, Their StoriesPublished:
The book consists of three parts and a conclusion. There is a preface, acknowledgements and Intro at the beginning of the book. The book ends with notes to the text; a glossary, bibliography and index. Yes, this "baby" is big and full, and I mean "FULL" of information. I think too much to digest in one reading. The first section of the book deals with the pre-war years; selection and training of a sniper. The second part deals with wartime sniper operations. This section is subdivided by locations where sniping operations took place. They include sections for: Western Europe, North Africa, Italy, The Liberation of Northwestern Europe, The Rhine and the Elbe, Drang Nach Osten, Stalingrad Kessel, Nach Berlin, Far East, Southwest Pacific Theater, the South Pacific and Asia… more |

Although the book claims to have 39 chapters, in reality we have reports on 39 different machines. The book starts with the Neubaufahrzeung Panzerkampfwagen IV and ends with the Panzer VIII "Maus." Each chapter contains a short history of the AFV with information on where they were built, and changes as noted.… more |

The Panzerjager Tiger (P) (Sd.Kfz.184) FerdinandPublished:
This profile book starts with a short history of the Ferdinand from its inception through the general configuration of the vehicle. In addition, the book gives you the armament, thickness of the armor and the division of the interior of the vehicle, as well as when the vehicle entered service with the German Army. The last paragraph of the short intro talks about the operation of the vehicle during the Battle of Kurz. This is considered the biggest battle ever fought between AFV's. The story ends with the reasons why the vehicle was a failure. As an aside, I would not like to have been one of the crew members of this "baby" as the noise inside of the vehicle most have been quite high. I understand that the noise level inside was measure at 185 dB and that is enough to cause permanent… more |
