Ju-88A-1 Bomber
History
The Ju88 was the most versatile German World War II aircraft in service. Several applications were: dive and high altitude bomber, night fighter, torpedo bomber against shipping, tank buster, as well as reconnaissance.
Items in the Box
The model is made from injection molded plastic – grey in color. The plans were in book format, printed both sides. I had an issue with the landing gear assembly – the procedure could have been more definitive. Clear molded plastic windows were supplied. An extensively detailed decal sheet was also included.
Construction
Initially, I started with the cockpit buildup, pre-painting and assembling details. Next, I assembled the fuselage, tail surfaces, wings, nacelles, landing gear, and finally, the canopy glass. All went together well, with the exception of the canopy glass fit. I had to use some filler here. When assembling, care should be taken, as some of the detail parts are tiny and can be easily lost.
Finish and Decals
Paint used is Model Masters enamel. The paint went on well. I gloss coated the surfaces with Testors spray, preparing the unit for decaling. Decals went on easily. Final coating with Testors dulcote.
Conclusion
With small glitches, the kit went together well. The kit is for the moderate to more experienced modeler. I wish to thank Revell and IPMS for allowing me to review this kit.
