Items in the box

The model is made of injection molded plastic, gray in color. The instructions were made up in book form printed both sides. Clear plastic parts were also included, along with two small sheets of photo etch details (brass material).

Construction

I started assembling the chassis, muffler, and suspension systems, as well as the drive shaft, differential, and forward steering details. Next came the engine and transmission with their details. The radiator came next (I used the photo etch grille instead of the plastic molded grille). There are two options supplied in the kit. History

The Pilatus was a widely exported Swiss (STOL) turboprop utility aircraft floatplane variant, powered by Pratt Whitney of Canada. The aircraft began its career in 1959. It had been modified with several different engines. The aircraft ended its military career in the mid 1990’s. It then started a new career, or second life, in the private sector with some modified as floatplanes.

The items are made from photo-etched sheets, two in quantity, made from metal. The assembly instructions are a fold out sheet, printed both sides.

Construction

The build is very basic, as I followed the instruction sheet. Many tiny parts are noted on the photos enclosed.

Finish

None. Same as exterior of aircraft.

Conclusion

The items went on the model well. Care must be taken as the parts are tiny. I would like to thank IPMS and Eduard for allowing me to review this product.

Japan Self-Defense Forces Light Truck Type 73

The type 73 light truck is one of a series of light utility vehicles used in the Japanese self-defense forces. JSDF deployed these vehicles from 1973. Almost all of them were phased out by 2010.

Items in the box

The model is made of injection molded plastic, olive drab in color. The instructions were made up of a foldout form, printed on both sides. Clear molded plastic window and headlight lenses were supplied.

Construction

Started with the chassis buildup, running gear, springs, drive train, and exhaust system. Next came the cab and its interior hardware, dashboard, shift levers, gas, brake, and clutch pedals, then the rear seating (upper back rests only), radio, and extra fuel container. Items in the box: The model is made from cast resin, gray in color. The plans are one sheet.

Construction: The build is very basic – six pieces all told, two cans. four handles, assembled per sketch. (As the label says, EASY line.)

Finish: I used gray spray auto primer for the cans and ModelMaster brown for the top of one can.

Conclusion: The parts went together well. The kit build can be done by any model builder with minimum experience. Care must be taken, as the handles are tiny.

The German Radio Car type 170VK was created on the basis of the serial car 170V of Daimler-Benz Co. The car had in its construction many technological solutions that were advanced for that time frame, such as an X-shaped frame welded from oval-shaped tubes, independent suspension on all wheels, and an engine with overhead valves. The vehicle was very reliable and very popular in all branches of the German army. The car was made in three variations: (1) scout car, (2) radio car, and (3) traveling repair shop. There were 19,075 vehicles built from 1933 to 1942.

The Arizona was a Pennsylvania-class battleship, for and by the U.S. Navy in the mid-1910’s. The ship was the second and last of the Pennsylvania class of “super dreadnoughts” battleships. The Arizona had an overall length of 608 ft., beam 97 ft, and draft of 29 ft, 3 in. The ship had four direct-drive Parsons steam turbines, each of which drove four 12 ft. 5 in. diameter propellers. The Arizona’s designed speed was 21 knots. The Arizona carried 12 .45 caliber 14 in. guns in four triple gun turrets. The Arizona took part in several exercises, escorted President Woodrow Wilson to the Paris Peace Conference, was regularly used for training exercises, assisted in the Long Beach earthquake of 1933 with disaster relief, and was featured in the Jimmy Cagney film Here… more

History: The YA-12 light artillery tractors were developed by NATI Designers and launched at the Yaroslavskiy Avtomobilniy Zavod YaAZ-Yaroslav Automobile Plant. In 1943, the United States supplied a large quantity of the U.S.-made GMC-4-71 four cylinder, two stroke, 110 horsepower engines under lend-lease contract. Production started in 1943, and within 12 months a total of 285 units were built. In 1945, production of YA-11s and 12s reached 1,270.
