Long-Range Narrow Body Airliner B-707-124
X Scale's latest release in their Airliner range is the classic B707-124. Included in the kit:
- Seven grey Sprues
- One Clear Sprue
- One Decal sheet
- One Mask set
- One Instruction guide
The sprue quality is great with this kit as it’s a new tool, with crisp and detailed molding.
The assembly is quick and easy.
I will not write about each stage. Instead, here are just a few points and comments for when you build this great kit
The cockpit is the first assembly. The only points I had here were. 1- a decal for the instrument panel would have been nice. 2. There are two holes in the cockpit floor for the control columns but done were included in the kit (I scratch built mine)
You also have to add weight to the nose behind the cockpit bulkhead before the fuselage halves are joined to ensure it sits on the landing gear. This should have been in the instructions. Also, with no locating pins/holes on the fuselage, you need to be careful with aligning them.
At stage six, I found the Parts H29 andH28 are reversed on the instructions.
When you join the wings, halves also be careful as there are no pins to help align them.
I did not like the paint masks provided as I found they let paint leak under the edges. So, I made my own.
The rest of the assembly was very straightforward with no issues.
The next stage was painting. The instructions did not show the white wing tips that were used on these aircraft, so I added them to the ends.
You need to be very careful with the decals for the cheat lines as they are quite long, and I would recommend cutting them into shorter segments to enable them to be lined up correctly.
In conclusion, this is a good kit for an experienced modeler and I really enjoy building it.
Thanks go to X Scale for providing this kit to review and to IPMS/USA for allowing me to review it for them.
