F-4F-4 Wildcat – Operation Torch
Arma has released their F4F-4 with the addition of Operation Torch marking and two bases in this very nice offering. The F4F-4 was originally released ea few months ago and this is a great option, I personally have a connection with Operation Torch as my father was part of this.
- Two grey Sprues
- One Clear Sprue
- One Decal sheet
- One Mask set
- One USS escort carrier deck base
- One Airbase base
- One Instruction guide
- An Errata sheet (showing the Martlet differences for the build)
- Bar codes for downloading 3D print files for additional parts you can print yourself
The detail quality is excellent in every way with this kit, crisp and detailed molding has become the norm for Arma Hobby kits.
The assembly is quick and easy as we have come to expect from these kits.
The assembly was seamless in every way, and so I will not this time write about each stage. Instead, here are just a few points and comments.
The instructions do show PE parts that are not included and it may have been an idea to add a note to say the PE is only included in the expert version of the kit.
A few of the very small interior cockpit decals are a little tricky to place, so be careful.
There was some flash on parts A11 and A12 but nothing to worry about.
The undercarriage build up was a great bit of design work and so easy to assembly.
Now the only negative comments for me would be that I would love to have the option to fold the wings. Also a rigging diagram would have been a great addition.
I choose to paint the aircraft in Version 1 scheme, which is the Operation Torch scheme.
The decals were now applied except for a few added during the assembly stages.
Last was the painting of the Escort Carrier base provided and there are a couple of great guides to doing this on the Arma Hobby webpages. The base is a very nice addition to this kit and adds a great look to the finished kit.
In conclusion, this is an awesome kit and I really enjoy building it.
Thanks go to Arma Hobby for providing this kit to review and IPMS/USA for allowing me to review it for them.
