One of the recent releases from ResKit is a set of 1/48 scale figures intended to go with your F-14 Tomcat. The figures look just like a pilot and RIO heading to their plane for their next flight. One is carrying their helmet in-hand while the other is carrying the bag used to transport the helmet. These two would look great next to a Tomcat on a flight deck or tarmac before the start of a mission and will be an easy addition for modelers with experience with 3D printed parts.

ResKit does a wonderful job with creating various parts and figures for an array of models. I have never been disappointed with any of the products that I have purchased or reviewed, and the level of detail is always top-notch. The figures in this kit are each printed as a single piece, so no assembly is required.

ResKit does a great job with their packaging as the figures, held in cages, are sandwiched between two pieces of foam along with a small plastic bag containing decals for them. The cardboard box is also of sturdy construction, and the single-page instructions provided callouts for Gunze Aqueous and Mr. Color paints while the reverse side shows the figure images and calling them parts R1 and R2.

To remove the parts from the supports, I dipped the items in warm water and found that they broke easily with finger pressure when removed from the water. This was a clean way of removing the supports and required minimal additional cleaning afterward. I primed the figures using Stynylrez 3D Black primer, then I applied a zenithal highlight using Tamiya LP-35 Insignia White.

Painting was accomplished using AK 3Gen “Painting Flesh Tones by Calvin Tan” and “US Modern Pilot Uniform Colors” paint sets for the base colors. Additional acrylic paints were used to create the “hair” on the figures. I put Metallic pens from Aiye to use for the sunglasses frames on the figures and applied Black from an AK Quick Gen marker onto the lenses of the sunglasses over a chrome base. The visible helmet simply received Gloss White and FS 36118 on the exterior surfaces from the Model Master Acryl line of paints.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this figure set to anyone wanting to add a couple of figures to your F-14 diorama. If you have not tried dipping your 3D printed parts in warm water to remove the supports, I would urge you to give it a try. My profuse thanks to ResKit for providing this example to the IPMS/USA for review and I appreciate having had the opportunity to perform this assessment.
