  • Paste; $7.49
  • Applicator Tools; $9.96
  • Panzer Kote Tools, $28.99

A hard-bound, 205 pages, 8½ x 12 inch volume containing six chapters. Chapters 1 and 2 provide historic context, while chapters 3 through 6 are for the modeler.

Chapter 1: Zimmerit: History and Riddles

One word best sums up this chapter ... Wow!

The introduction points out that the interest zimmerit is inversely proportional to its real use. As modelers we all “know” what zimmerit is. An anti-magnetic paste applied to defeat magnetic anti-tank mines. Furthermore we are all familiar with the typical parallel line and waffle patterns. But did you know there were 18 different patterns? And that certain patterns were used exclusively by a single… more

Airfield of the Luftwaffe Bomber Group

Published:
Company: ICM

Summary

ICM continues their run of “dioramas in a box,” this time by kitting the kits as one; the He‑111H-3 WWII German Bomber (Kit 48261). Luftwaffe airfield equipment (Kit 48409), and German Luftwaffe ground personnel (1939-1945) (Kit 48229).

Background

The He-111 was initially designed as a fast airliner. But the secret Luftwaffe wanted an aircraft that could also be converted to a bomber with minimal adaptation. The first He-111 flew in February 1935. The first incarnations of the He-111 looked nothing like what became an infamous bomber of the Blitz. The He-111A through 111F all had a normal nose and cockpit configuration. Not until the introduction in 1938 of the He-111P did the full glass nose appear.

The He-111H-3 was powered by two, 1,200 HP Jumo… more

Bristol Beaufort Mk.1A with RAF Pilots

Published:
Company: ICM

ICM continues their run of “dioramas in a box,” this time by kitting their recently released Bristol Beaufort Mk1A with tropical air filters (Kit 48311) with their RAF bomber and torpedo pilots (Kit 48090).

Background

The Bristol Beaufort torpedo bomber entered service with RAF Coastal Command in late 1939. In the spring of 1942 all of Coastal Commands Beauforts were sent to the Mediterranean for use in attacking German convoys that were resupplying the Afrika Korp in North Africa. The high temperatures encountered in this region of the world required the carburetor air intakes to be modified to allow greater air intake.

The Beauforts were initially stationed in Malta, but would later be moved to Egypt and the Pacific and Far East.

G7101 in German Service with Infantry

Published:
Company: ICM

Summary

This is a re-boxing of the earlier G7107 1½-ton truck. That kit was reviewed in December 2021 by Mr. Phillip Cavender. I used Mr. Cavender’s review as a “heads-up” for any issues. From reading his review ICM has changed the assembly sequence with this re-boxing. Mr. Cavender noted that the engine is assembled in steps 20-28 after the axles are attached to the frame (steps 16-19). In the current instruction sheet the engine is assembled first (in steps 16-25) and the axles attached after that (steps 26-45).

The only difference with this set is that a new bag with three sprues to create four infantry figures with equipment.

The following is excerpted from the instruction sheet.
