This book is published by Kagero and is distributed in North America by Casemate Publishers. “The Hapsburg’s Wings 1914” is authored by Professor, Senior Doctor Lecturer Andrzej Olejko.

As one would expect, the focus of North American WWI historians, students, authors, artists, and modelers is on the Western Front. Ask a Canadian to name a WWI Ace and they will respond with “Billy Bishop”. Ask an American and they will quickly name Eddie Rickenbacker. Other names will be put forward. Certainly, on this list, will be George Guynemer, Albert Ball, Andrew Beauchamp Proctor and Mick Mannock.

Ask, then, for the respondent to focus on German Aces. Of course, the first name that will come up is Manfred Von Richthofen followed quickly by Max Immelmann.

This will be the third of a three-part review of Mission Models paints.

The Metallics

Mission Models has four new metallic paints, White Aluminum, Dark Aluminum, Duraluminum and Silver.

For this paint test I sprayed Mission White Primer after cleaning and degreasing the test surface. If you use gray or black primer you can get a variance of tonal quality for each of the metallic paints making them very versatile.

I decided to paint the White Aluminum and Dark Aluminum for this review. As you can see in the accompanying pictures the paints are very durable. Once laid down they will not pull up with masking tape and have a nice metallic sheen.

This book details Soviet strategic bombers development, use history and experimental bombers as well. Beginning with The Tu-4 “Bull” an aircraft reverse engineered from interred B-29s during WWII on until modern day.

The book is broken down into 15 chapters, beginning with post war development of strategic bombers. The next seven are devoted to the main bomber types in service with the USSR. These include the aforementioned Tu-4 as well as the Tu-95 Bear, M-4 Bison, Tu-16 Badger, Tu-22 Blinder, Tu-22M Backfire and the Tu-160 Blackjack. Each aircraft is given in-depth coverage of service of both active and retired aircraft and those that were used by client states outside of the USSR. You will find each of these chapters to be very interesting and packed with information.

SAC has filled the niche of replacement landing cast in white metal. In most cases these are copies of the original parts cast in white metal. Some are upgrades that fix noted errors. These products are convenient for many multiple reasons:

The book is a top drawings series from Kagero and is a Visual study of the Junkers Ju 87B Dive Bomber of the Luftwaffe in World War II.

I found this book full of fascinating scale drawings and profiles of all the variants of the Ju 87B. There are 7 sheets of 1/48 scale drawings and 8 sheets of 1/72 scale drawings. There are also 10 color profiles of aircraft. These drawings are very useful for any modeler and are a great additional to any reference library.

Included in the book are a set of canopy masks in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale for Ju 87B models and are a great bonus to the book.

I recommend this book to everyone with any interest Ju 87B especially Modelers.

Thanks go to Casemate Publishing for providing this book to review and IPMS USA for allowing me to review it for them

This is a high-quality resin kit of a unique steampunk vehicle with figures. The part fit is exceptionally good, but there are some small & delicate parts to work with, and resin experience is important.

Industria Mechanika is a low volume, high quality ‘garage’ kit company focusing on original concept designs of steampunk, airships, fantasy, fantastical figures, and other whimsical creations. Many of IM’s kits are original designs created by its owner and designer, Michael Fichtenmayer, or other designers. The kits are produced in resin of the highest quality, and many include photoetch, decals, and other accessories.

Her Majesty’s Estafette is designed by Christohe Desse, who has designed several other kits for Industria Mechanika. Desse is a special effect artist and modeler for advertising, tv, film, and games in France, Germany and Singapore. Following on the heels of their gorgeous FW-190A-4 Eduard has released the next variant in the production line, the A-5. The A-5 differed from the A-4 in that its engine was moved forward. This would become the standard position until the D-9 variant came into production.

Having built the A-4 and found it to be simply gorgeous I was anxious to see what the later variants would look like.

This is Omega Models all resin T-41 which is the US armed forces version of the popular Cessna 172, The kit can be used to build both a US Army or US Air Force aircraft.

In the box is:

  • 6 x strips of molded resin parts
  • 1 film sheet
  • 2 x vacuum formed clear parts
  • 2 x small decal sheets
  • 1 wire
  • 1 instruction sheet

The kit consists of 44 resin parts some are not required as they are from the standard Cessna 172 kit. The resin parts are extremely well molded with a little flash but great detail; the decal sheets were not too impressive and you may want to get alternative decals. Also, the vacuum formed windscreen and rear window are not too good.

Construction

The instructions are very simple and you just need to try to follow fitting the parts numerically.

If you are in the market for a single, thorough guide to the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, this new offering from SAM Publications would certainly fit the bill. With text and scale drawings by Andy Evans, and color artwork by Ryan Dorling, this book includes in-action photographs, color side views, models of the plane in 1/72 and 1/48 scale, walk around photos, technical drawings, and scale line drawings. For fans of the venerable Skyhawk, I would consider this a must-have book, and as 25 of the 31 books in this series are now out of print, I would advise picking your copy sooner rather than later.
