Xuron Scissors

Most likely, if you build models, you’re familiar with the Xuron Corporations line of products. Designed by modelers for modelers, Xuron supplies some of the finest cutting tools on the market today. From sprue cutters to these photo-etched cutters the name Xuron is synonymous with high quality.

This product, model # 9180ET is no exception. Engineered to close tolerances these scissors cut photo-etched parts closely and cleanly from the metal tree with minimal clean up. By cutting across the part and sprue attachment point, the modeler is able to remove the part with virtually no distortion which is often a concern if using other means for removal. A few passes with a file will render any piece of photo-etch ready to attach and looking good. It should be noted here that these scissors are finely engineered, and should be used only with photo-etched parts and should not be used to cut wire, plastic parts or other items. Xuron makes cutters for those materials, and those tools should be used when cutting them.

Made from high quality steel the angles on the cutter are designed to cut away a photo-etched part of brass, stainless steel, or other material cleanly. The handles are coated in a material that will not cause fatigue in the hand if used to cut a number of parts one right after another. As always, the use a proper eye protection is recommended when using these scissors, or working with photo-etch in general, and a warning is printed on the reverse side of the packaging. The tips are also sharp, so one should not run when holding this product!!!

These scissors are of very high quality, and will be a fine addition to a modeler’s tool chest. Forget some of the other cutters advertised as Photo-etch cutters. This cutter is all you will need to remove those photo-etched parts for your next project. I really like them, and highly recommend them to all modelers. Check out the Xuron website at http://www.xuron.com to check out the entire line of great cutting tools offered by this company, you won’t be disappointed!! Many thanks to Xuron Corporation and IPMS/USA for providing me with this sample for review.
