Plus Model, maker of fine detailed aftermarket products, just produced a ladder for the McDonnel Douglas F-15 Eagle. What is unique about this item is that it is injection molded instead of resin or photo etch that other companies make. Although this does require some assembly, being able to make fine adjustments to better fit the various kits is a real bonus.

The kit comes in a sturdy box and the sprue is in a suitable plastic bag. The instructions are printed on the back of the box and are basic but sufficient to assist your build. The 8 parts have minimal flash which cleans up easily.

Assembly was simple but when I test fit the ladder just after assembly. Remember to always check your references and test fit on your kit.

After a coat of primer, I painted the ladder gloss black (Tamiya X1). A dull clear coat was added and some areas of duller black were added for contrast. Note that the ladder may be various colors from Gray and black, check your references to which aircraft you are applying it to. One item I noticed in reference photos was the significant amount of paint chipping. I did not take my weathering to that extreme. This build was enjoyable and will make an outstanding addition you your F-15 Eagle family. The ladder was test fit on a Hasegawa F-15C and Revell F-15E kit and fit perfectly on each.

I would like to thank Plus Model for this review sample.

I have been building models since at least 8 years old and with a brief break after high school, model building started again late in college. My preferred subjects are aircraft of all eras and scales but a majority of my builds are 1/48 scale. I am the son of a USAF navigator who flew tactical airlift in Vietnam then his last 8 years he served at Altus AFB where he retired. My love of aircraft comes naturally and try to build subjects that I have a personal connection to. My day job parallels the hobby where I design full flight simulators ranging from small corporate jets, military fighter jets to the C-17. I hold a commercial pilot certificate and fly as a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol. I really enjoy flying cadets, passing on the love of flight and inspiring future aviators.
