Euro Decals has provided the IPMS/USA reviewer corps with a wonderful decal set for the WWII Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIb. Though there is no specific mention of a preferred model company, it coincides with Arma Hobby’s Hurricane Mk.IIb kit production.

This 1/72 decal sheet covers eight (8) schemes:

1. BD761, ‘SW.F’ of 253 (Hyderbad State) Squadron, based at RAF Hilbastow, August 1942.
2. BH125, ‘U’ of 3 PRU, RAF, based in Egypt, North Africa, early 1942.
3. BG737, of the Malta Night Fighting Unit, RAF, based at Ta’ Qali, Malta, July 1941.
4. BE171, ‘YB.B’ flown by Sgt J.F. Barick of 17 Squadron, RAF, based in Burma, February 1942.
5. BE421, ‘XP.G’ of 174 (Mauritius) Squadron, based at RAF Manston, May 1942.
6. Z3971, ‘SW.S’, “Samasmans II” of 253 (Hyderbad State) Squadron, was based at Hilbastow in late 1941.
7. BG971, ‘AX.V’ flown by Maj. Gerald le Mesurier of 1 Squadron, SAAF, based at LG 92, Egypt, July 1942.
8. BD930, ‘FG.Σ’ of 335 (Greek) Squadron, RAF, based at LG 37, El Alamein, November 1942.

In the Package

One (1) decal sheet is provided with all the individual markings for each airplane. However, if you want to use all eight (8) aircraft, more roundels will be needed to complete every aircraft.

Each plane gets its own sheet for illustration and decal placement. Exterior paint information is also provided for Humbrol, Xtracolour, Xtracrylix, Mr. Color Aqueous, MRP, and Vallejo Model Air.

The decals are printed by Fantasy Printshop and are in perfect registry with vibrant colors and with barely any clear decal film edging.

Conclusions

There a so many decal options for the Hurricane Mk.IIb it may inspire you to build multiple planes. The markings are perfect and colorful. If you are a fan of the WWII Hurricane, then this is a must-buy.
