The EA-16G has taken over from the EA-6 and as such it has all the colorful markings that the Prowlers had.

One of the things I love about Furball’s decal sheet is the amount of choices you are given on each sheet. This sheet is no different. There are SIXTEEN Growlers included in this release. Not only do you get 15 US Navy Growlers you also get the markings for an Australian one. Some of these Growlers are quite colorful, so the problem may be which one do you choose. Besides the 16 aircraft you also get enough stencils for TWO aircraft.

The decals and instructions are contained in a ziplock bag. The instructions are printed in full color on four double sided 8.5x11 sheets. The profile views show the left side of every airplane. Each upper wing National insignia and wing modex placement is shown for each airplane. When required the interior of the vertical stabilizers and upper spine and canopy trim painting are illustrated. The Stencils and Data Placement are provided which shows all the stencil data. This data includes the ALQ-99 jamming pods, the ejection sheet, the pylons and even the afterburner nozzles. That is how complete these instructions are. The sheets feature the following aircraft:

  • VAQ-129, EA-18G 166859, NAS Whidbey Island, 2016 (NJ 550)
  • VAQ-129, EA-18G 168901, NAS Whidbey Island, 2016 (NJ 514)
  • VAQ-129, EA-18G 168902, NAS Whidbey Island, 2016 (NJ 505)
  • VAQ-130, EA-18G 168268, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, 2016 (AC 500)
  • VAQ-130, EA-18G 168251, USS Harry S. Truman, 2015 (AC 501)
  • VAQ-131, EA-18G 168772, USS George H.W. Bush, 2016 (AJ 500)
  • VAQ-132, EA-18G 166934, NAS Whidbey Island, February 2012 (NL 540)
  • VAQ-132, EA-18G 166934, NAS Whidbey Island, October 2012 (NL 540)
  • VAQ-134, EA-18G 168765, NAS Whidbey Island, 2016 (NL 533)
  • VAQ-135, EA-18G 166940, NAS Whidbey Island, 2016 (NL 520)
  • VAQ-136, EA-18G 168261, USS Ronald Reagan, 2015 (NE 500)
  • VAQ-137, EA-18G 168266, USS Theodore Roosevelt, 2015 (AB 500)
  • VAQ-137, EA-18G 168267, USS Theodore Roosevelt, 2015 (AB 501)
  • VAQ-138, EA-18G 166934, NAS Whidbey Island, 2010 (NL 510)
  • VAQ-142, EA-18G 168381, USS Nimitz, 2016 (NH 500)
  • RAAF, No. 6 Squadron, EA-18G 169148, NAS Whidbey Island, 2015 (A46-301)

The decals themselves are printed on two decals sheets. The larger sheet is 8.75x12 and the slightly smaller sheet is 8.75x8.5. The decals are printed by Cartograf, so you know they are world class decals. They are thin, in perfect register, and have good color saturation. The larger sheet contains all the really colorful markings. You can tell that Furball did not cut any corners when it came to colors. The second sheet contains much of the stenciling and the national markings. It is essentially black, grey and a little red. There are stencils on these sheets for two aircraft.

Flawless research, world class printing and colorful subjects makes this sheet another winner from Furball. Their entire product line is more of the same. If you have a Hasegawa EA-18G or two in your collection this is an ideal sheet and significantly better than the kit decals.

Highly recommended.
