I’ve always thought the F-5 Freedom Fighter was a sexy little airplane. And with a neat paint scheme, it is even cooler. Two Bobs has dabbled into these markings with this release.

The adversaries of VFC-111 and VFC-13 sport some of the camouflage schemes that many potential adversaries would fly in.

Typical of all Two Bobs releases this one comes in a ziplock baggie of 6x9 inches. The decals themselves are printed by Microscale so you know they are thin, opaque and in register. This sheet features three aircraft, one from the Sundowners and two Fighting Saints. There are stencils for each aircraft and decals for CATM AIM-9 markings.

The instructions are printed on a double-sided 8.5x11 sheet of high-quality paper. The front side has both sides of the three aircraft. A color callout chart is included with references to Model Master, Humbrol, Mr. Color, Xtracrylics, and Mr. Paint series. The back side of the page shows the top and bottom views. The markings for the CATM Sidewinder is included.

The first aircraft is a VFC-111 Sundowner F-5N from May 2017 painted up to represent the PAK-FA paint scheme of two greys. It is an interesting paint scheme in its simplicity.

The second aircraft is from VFC-13 also in May 2017 and is in the Rotten Banana paint scheme often seen on Su-27/33s. This jagged green and brown is applied over a yellow base and grey belly. This is the most colorful aircraft on the sheet and looks really impressive.

The last one will look very familiar to movie buffs. It is the vaunted MiG-28 from ‘Top Gun’. It is an F-5N from VFC-13 in May 2017 and the paint scheme is typically called the ‘Batmobile’. This all black aircraft features some really nice Russian star markings outlined in yellow. The red markings are used for stencils. Really great looking.

Two Bobs has come through again with some impressive decals for some colorful airplanes. World class decals and research make these a great addition to any model. That sexy little F-5N deserves these types of markings and colors and Two Bobs delivers.

Highly recommended
