Iliad Design has provided the IPMS/USA reviewer corps with a wonderful decal set for the Korean War MiG-15s. This is an improved version of the decals versus their original set of MiG-15s with an additional new scheme and an expanded set of instructions.

This 1/48^th scale decal sheet covers eight schemes:

1. MiG-15 PLAAF, Number 07, for the “People’s Voluntary Air Force” for the Chinese volunteers who fought in Korea
2. MiG-15bis North Korea, Number 931, flown by Soviet pilot K.I. Siyom, Spring 1953
3. MiG-15bis North Korea, Number 758, flown by Soviet pilot Capt. P.S. Milaushkin with 176 IAP, based in Antung, early 1952
4. MiG-15bis North Korea, Number 2057, flown by No Kum-Sok when he defected to Kimpo AB, September 21, 1953
5. MiG-15bis, U.S.A.F. markings applied at Kimpo AB immediately after No Kum-Sok defected. Note, currently located at the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH
6. MiG-15bis North Korea, Number 03, flown by Soviet pilot Maj. Arkady Boitsov, Manchuria, Summer 1953
7. MiG-15bis North Korea, Number 2249, Chinese pilot Wang Hai, Summer 1953
8. MiG-15bis North Korea, Number 325, flown by Soviet pilot Col. Yevgeni Pepelyayev

In the Package

There is one decal sheet provided with all the individual markings for each airplane, and this includes all the roundels. General aircraft stencils will have to be sourced from somewhere else.

Each plane gets its own side profile illustration, and special paint colors are noted if different from natural metal finish.

The decals are in perfect registry with vibrant colors and with barely any clear decal film edging.

Conclusions

This is a wonderful decal set for Korean War era fans, especially if you have some MiG-15s in your stash ready for assembly.
