Bob Sanchez has been in or around the military all his life. He was an "Air Force Brat" and credits his mom with getting him addicted to plastic modeling and airplanes. At the age of 10, Bob's mom came home with a Revell 1/32 scale P-51B and signed him up for the Military Book Club. From that point on, he was hooked! Bob Sanchez was in the USAF for 11 years as an Airborne Instrumentation/Telemetry Technician and flew on the Advanced Range Instrumentation Aircraft as a Chief Flight Examiner. He finished his enlistment with Project Speckled Trout as a Flight Test Engineer performing airborne Comm/Nav testing on the Air Force Chief of Staff airplane. He has over 1,200 flight hours in numerous aircraft to include the C-135C, EC-135E, EC-18B/D, E-9A, NASA 757, F-16C, F/A-18B, King Air, MH-53 Pave Low, Bell Jet Ranger and OH-6 Cayuse. Currently Bob is the Business Development Manager for a major aerospace defense contractor. He is also a member of the Airlift Tanker Association and the Society of Flight Test Engineers.

This Twobobs “Bel Colore” [Beautiful Color] provides markings for three F-16 Vipers based at Aviano Air Base on one decal sheet. During 2023 and 2024, three Vipers were painted in a “Heritage Scheme”. The decal sheet includes all three schemes, and enough stencil decals are included to finish two complete aircraft. Stencils are also provided for the AN/AAQ-33 Sniper XR pod. Designed for the Tamiya 1/48 F-16C, this set can also be utilized on the Kinetic and Hasegawa 1/48-scale kits.

The three schemes are:

  • F-16CM Block 40E; sn 89-2009; 31st Fighter Wing; December 2023
  • F-16CM Block 40E; sn 89-2030; 510th Fighter Squadron; May 2023
  • F-16CM Block 40E; sn 87-0350; 555th Fighter Squadron; February 2025

All three schemes are shown in the 8.5” x 11” instructions from both sides in addition to a dorsal and ventral view. Paint callouts are in Federal Standard FS595B [US Government Standard] colors with matching paints called out for AK, Hataka, Mr. Color, and Mr. Paint. The instruction sheet is a great reference source with each decal referenced on the color illustrations for accurate placement. Three color photographs are included on Page 3 of the instruction sheet.

I have not applied this set to a F-16CM yet, but I have applied previous decal sets from Twobobs [Viggens and Gripens, oh my! of course] and expect no issues in this set. The decals are printed by Cartograf [Italy] with minimal clear decal film edging and perfect registry. All three markings will add some beautiful color to your next F-16C project.

Highly recommended!

My thanks to Twobobs Aviation Graphics and IPMS/USA for the chance to review this great product.
