Confession Before the Flight
ICM has released this kit, which uses the older release American Made truck G7117, now with the addition of the Mobile Field Chapel, figures and accessories. Such chapels were used by British Army Chaplains to perform their duties in all theaters of war. The kit contains:
- Nine grey Sprues
- Two clear sprues
- One Decal sheet
- One instruction guide
The detail quality is excellent in every way with this kit -- crisp and detailed molding has become the norm for the latest ICM kits.
The assembly is quick and easy as we have come to expect from these kits. It was seamless in every way, so I will not spend time writing about each stage. Instead, here are just a few points and comments.
The assembly begins with the chassis and the only items to note here are to ensure that the sub-assembly at stage 19 lines up and slides on fully at stage 21. Extra care should be used when removing part F8 from the sprue as it’s very fragile. Also, I would suggest installing part B4 at stage 9 before installing part F7.
Next note is the installation of the cab at stage 75 as this is very tricky to align. Be patient and take care.
The rest of the construction has no issues. I found it went very well.
The decals were applied except for a few added during the assembly stages. I do believe they should have added decals for the three large crosses as that would have saved hand painting them. Also, the addition of license plates would have been good.
I added a few details to the accessories, sumhost on the plates, etc. I also added a break to the Chaplin to represent my local priest, to whom I presented the finished model as a gift.
In conclusion, this is an awesome kit and I really enjoy building it.
Thanks go to ICM for providing this kit to review and IPMS USA for allowing me to review it for them.
