Bottom Line Up Front:

Building a Gunpla is for sure out of my lane. For those that don’t know, Gunpla is the kit, and Gundam refers to one of many TV shows. In other words, Gundam is animated Gunpla. This is the second Gunpla I have built. The first was a simple small kit for an in house model contest for my local club. Gundam Barbatos is a much more complex build. Having said that, assembly was straight forward as long as the instructions are followed closely. It turns into a nice kit, if you make a mistake, like I did, it is easy to recover from since no glue is involved. It is a fun build that doesn’t really take that much time to finish. Highly recommended for Gunpla modelers or for those modelers looking to try something different. For those looking for an enjoyable build, this is a good option. Highly recommended.

About the Kit and Subject:

Gundam Barbatos, (per https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Master_Grade), is an upgrade to the Master Grade series of 1/100 scale Gunpla kits of the Mobile Suits in the Gundam meta series. Master Grade kits differ from other 1/100 scale Gunpla, with their level of detail, articulation, and proportions being second only to the Perfect Grade line. Master Grade SD “implement the widest range of articulation and is overwhelmingly detailed”.

Instructions and Assembly (Including stickers):

The instructions are straight forward and assembly is done in a logical manner. The instructions are divided into 14 different sections that address major sub assemblies. From internal structure of the various body parts followed by top level assembly of the head, upper chest, arms, shoulders, legs, waist, and finally the backpack and weapons. The major assemblies then are assembled until you have a complete Gunpla. Also included in the kit are numerous peel and stick stickers that can be placed, either per instructions, or wherever the builder prefers.

My thanks to Bandai and Hobby Tyme for the review sample
