Kit

The 1/48 Eduard photo etch seatbelt kit contains one full-color photo etch tree containing five numbered parts with a total of 16 parts. The single-page instruction guide is easy to follow. Each of the three seats is clearly depicted with line drawings. Assembly of the seatbelts is nearly foolproof. The right side for each seat is labeled A while the left side is labeled B. This consistency makes assembly of the seatbelts go quickly.

Reviewer’s Comments

Filling a void for the ICM DO 217N-1 kit for which no seatbelts or seatbelt decals are provided, Eduard has stepped up to provide an excellent photo etch set. Whether you are a builder who likes to add just that little bit extra or a detail hawk, this full-color photo etch is a real asset to this ICM kit.

Brief History (from Wikipedia)

The Douglas A-26 Invader (designated B-26 between 1948 and 1965) is an American twin-engined light bomber and ground attack aircraft. Built by Douglas Aircaft Company during World War II, the Invader also saw service during several major Cold War conflicts. A limited number of highly modified United Sates Air Force aircraft served in Southeast Aisa until 1969. It was a fast aircraft capable of carrying a large bomb load. A range of guns could be fitted to produce a formidable ground-attack aircraft.

Overview (as found on the website)

The St Mihiel Offensive, which took place between the 12th and 16th September 1918, was the first full scale attack that was under the direct command of the Americans, in the person of General J. Pershing. He combined his command of the First (at the time the only) American Army with that of Commander in Chief of the AEF, a tremendous burden.

The Berlin Wall stood from 1961 to 1989. During that time the cold war anxiously dragged-on between Uncle Sam, and a Big Red Bear held behind an Iron Curtain. For many people, the Berlin Wall became the physical manifestation of that imagined Iron Curtain.

The AFV Club Berlin Wall model kit represents the Berlin Wall in its most remembered form. While “The Wall” was continuously updated with various designs throughout its 28 years, AFV Club’s Berlin Wall kit represents the last iconic design until its destruction in 1989.

Contents

  • 1 plastic Bag with 3 "A" Sprues with 4 parts per sprue
  • 1 plastic bag with a set of water slide decals depicting graffiti/street art

First Impressions

The parts are very clean on the sprue’s, with cement texturing on the surfaces which looks appropriate, and able to hold up under paint and the large decals.

Reviewer’s Comments

Your use of this exterior PE kit will depend on how you wish to build your plane. Therefore, I recommend the builder take the following into consideration when making a decision about this PE kit: decide in advance whether you want to have an open or closed bomb bay, if you want to have open or closed cowling vents, and consider your tolerance for fragility.

The 1/48 Eduard canopy masks kit for the ICM DO 217N-1 contains one sheet of thin die-cut masking tape. There are 31 window masks and additional masks for the wheels. The single-page instruction guide is easy to follow. Each clear kit piece is identified (F1, F2 , F5 & F7) and left- and right-sided masks are mapped to their corresponding position on the diagram for that part. Note: clear kit parts which are not indicated on the masking diagram are not intended to be painted. Masks for the wheels are also clearly identified (D20, D21 and D4).

Reviewer’s Comments

The ICM Dornier 217N-1 kit has a lot of canopy. Luckily, Eduard has produced an excellent mask set to assist the model builder with achieving nicely painted glass and an impressive look for your plane.
