Every year we have so many choices of calendars to choose from but finding the perfect calendar can be a challenge. With the Cross & Cockade 2023 calendar, you get a calendar with beautiful prints in a perfect size of 11.7” (300mm) x 8.3” (210mm) with spiral binding so each month stays flat to the wall. The 2023 calendar starts with January 2023 with one month per page. Each page has a beautiful illustration of WWI aviation with monthly calendar below. Part of the “Middle East at War” series, Lebanese Civil War, volume 2 (second of a four part series) book covers the period of 1978 to 1981 known as the “Quiet before the Storm”. The publication is 70 pages of full color, black & white photographs, diagrams as well as artist illustrations. The book starts out with abbreviations that will be found in the following pages and a map of Lebanon showing the control zones. Text and illustrations are laid out in chronological order covering all the groups on both sides of the conflict. Key publishing specializes in books covering aviation, transport history and sport. This book is a fairly compact, paperback full color book. There are two primary sections, U.S. Customs and Border protection in the first section and U.S Coast Guard in part two. In each section are two chapters further breaking down into further sub groups. Most of the aircraft featured are currently use with each organization but a few notable aircraft that have been retired are covered. With each aircraft covered, detailed information on the aircraft, capabilities and missions performed are discussed. “Pacific Profiles” is a series of books that covers various military aircraft serving in the Pacific during WWII. This book is volume four, Allied fighters: Vought F4U Corsair Series, Solomons Theatre 1943-1944. The book size is paperback and about 7 inches by 10 inches in color and black & white. The book starts out with technical information, color schemes and markings as well as maps of the Solomon airfields. There are a few charts showing USN/USMC and RNZAF corsair units and their timeline when they were in service. At the end of this section are full color images of Corsair squadron and service insignia/patches featured in this book along with a glossary of terms. This book “Operation Allied force, air war over Serbia 1999” is volume one of a two volume book series. There are two authors who both held opposing positions during this war with front line service. This volume (1) covers the chronology of events while the next volume (2) focuses of the experiences from both sides in the air war. The beginning of this book covers the rise of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) air force. From buildup of assets, restrictions put on the new air force equipment and tables showing air asset with locations of these assets. “The Erawan War, The CIA Paramilitary Campaign in Laos, 1961-1969” is volume one of a two volume set. The second volume covers the years 1969 through 1974. The book starts out by setting the stage in 1960 where Laos was a neutral buffer zone between communist and western nations. With a near bloodless coup in Laos, the need of an intervention by the CIA to aid rebels was needed. This book covers the timeline and details of the CIA in Laos for most of the Vietnam conflict. Eurofighter Pilots Seated in A/CPublished:
Many of the US fighter pilot figures are depicting older style safety equipment like helmets and oxygen masks. PJ production released a nice version of current Eurofighter “Typhoon” pilots with latest helmet. The new helmet has LED sensors on top of the helmet for head tracking. The helmet also allows a pilot to see below (or through) the airplane to target aircraft below their aircraft. The product contains a two pilot figures cast in two pieces, complete figure with left hand on the leg and separate right arm. Both pilots appear to be identical. There is a minimal amount of “flash” on the parts, but they are easily cleaned off. One thing to note is small bumps on top of the helmet which are barely visible, these are not a casting flaw. Werner’s Wings has been around for some time and is known primarily for rotary wing subjects offering resin and resin in 1/32, 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72nd scale. Their attention to detail rivals all other resin and decal companies on the market and that can be attributed to the owner, Floyd Werner, who served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot and a helicopter pilot for a local police department. With Floyd’s personal experience with rotary aircraft and his connections in the aviation community, reference material he uses can be trusted to be the most authentic. This set is a 3D printed item instead of a traditional resin set.
