IPMS/USA thanks the Aires Aerobonus team once again for sending us this simple, excellent items for use in a diorama setting. And thanks to Phil and John for obtaining the sets for the team…

This set consists of one perfectly cast figure of a Kettenkraftrad driver. These vehicles were used on many German airfields later in the war to move smaller aircraft around the local flughafen. (One of these also served as a “Rabbit” decoy in the movie “Saving Private Ryan” in the last battle scene).

Not much to say here: It’s simple but can be done to excellent standard if you have the tools, time, and skills. With my painting ability, I could do a lot better, but I’m on deadlines. You get the idea. Paint, wash, highlight, done. I just love micro photography too: shows up every grain of resin dust that I can’t see with my old eyes…

Five parts. Main fuselage (body), two arms (wings) and two heads (control surface). One head has a helmet, one has a soft field cap with bill. Glue: superglue or epoxy. The resin was in perfect condition and the parts fit where they were supposed to. “THE MAN HAS ARMS”. The pictures tell the rest. (OK, the facial features were great, and the rest of the figure was excellent in sculpture and realism… it’s not just another plastic “man”)

I have not invested in the Tamiya ME-262 kit with the Kettenrad, but this figure would be a good alternative to the kit driver, and obviously could be adapted to other uses.

This completes this build; 1/48 figures are needed for our airfields, and this particular release of four figures each individually can add visual scale or interest, and also serve as basis for swapping body parts for a different look from everyone else. Realistic out of the bag, and worth the asking price. THANK YOU to Aires Aerobonus for the review items… and thanks to Phil for forwarding and John approving my working these sets
