John Vojtech was born near Prague, in the Czech Republic and currently lives in Deerfield near Chicago, Illinois USA with his family. As a young boy, John was taught about modeling by his father. This passion for modeling led him to later teach modeling theory and practice at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. What has long been a hobby is now his profession. Drawing upon his success, John has expanded into new fields, offering consulting services, teaching, seminars, exhibitions, as well as continuing to teach modeling theory and practice to the young generation interested in this work. John Vojtech is also a member of IPMS / USA International Plastic Modelers' Society (National), member of IPMS / Richard I. The UMM76 Medium Profiler is a 130mm by 3mm coated flexible metal. This tool has two surfaces. One side is smooth while the opposite side is diagonally ribbed. This tool comes in a sealed plastic bag containing the Profiler and a plastic case for storage. The Profiler can be used as a contour guide by placing it against any part and formed to its surface. The examples seen below are on the Pilot Replicas 1/48 De Havilland J 28 Vampire. This metal material has no memory and can be straightened up after use by pressing between two metal rulers or other flat surfaces. The photograph showing the straightened Profiler after use was simply pressed straight on a flat surface. Pressing against a straight edge will provide better results. An additional application is as a scribing guide. Just place it on the surface where you wish to scribe panel lines and scribe away. If you are looking for scribing tools, UMM is the place to visit as well. Check out the IPMS Review page for UMM reviews.

Having the proper tools for your project will help you to achieve a higher level of quality for your “build”. UMM-USA profiling tools fill that role. This profiling tool is also available in large [150mm x 4mm] and small [110mm x 2mm]. For those of you who attend IPMS Nationals, you should find this at UMM-USA’s table and John Votech will be happy to give you a demonstration. You can also find it on his website above. This product is a superb tool based on the high quality of the cutting point, comfort, ergonomics, and ease of use.

Highly recommended!

My thanks to John Vojtech and UMM-USA along with IPMS/USA for the chance to review this great modeling tool.
