This is an interesting set of 6 photo-etch moveable barriers that I think will have multiple uses for modelers who build 1.72 modern armor or aircraft or even civilian vehicles or dioramas. In looking at photographs of a number of European airshows, barriers like these show up on a regular basis being used to separate curious spectators from very expensive aircraft.

Construction is very simple, once each barrier has been removed from the fret. I recommend using either a new exacto blade or a set of phot-etch scissors to remove the barriers from the fret as they are very fine and easily bent. Use care and try to nip the attachment points as close to the barrier as possible as they are almost impossible to file or sand once off the fret due to their delicate nature.

Once removed from the fret, you need to twist each leg 90 degrees at its base so that they are perpendicular to the barrier to create the feet and then twist the small loop on one side of each barrier 90 degrees so that is parallel with the ground. This is illustrated on the instructions, but pretty obvious anyway. I used a small set of flat-nosed pliers (without teeth) that I found in the jewelry making section of the local craft store to make my bends.

Painting is pretty much up to you depending on how you want to use the barriers. Most airshow photos I found show unpainted aluminum barriers, but I also found some that wer painted bright yellow –presumably to keep people from running into them. My guess is that many cities use these types of barriers as well and that they are probably much more colorful than the military ones are. I envision mine be set up around an Airfix Spitfire I am finishing up as if it was on static display at an airsow or a museum.
