Quickboost provides you with the capability to open up your MiG-21 parachute housing and display the tail end of the packed parachute. Of note is the re-sealable packaging that Quickboost uses that makes the parts easy to review and then stuff back into the package securely. The supplied instructions graphically depict where you cut off the existing closed parachute housing and add the three resin parts included in this set.

Although most paints will adhere to resin alone, I would recommend that you wash the parts to remove any remaining mold release and prime them first. The parachute and parachute housing will need to be installed with your favorite CA (super glue) or epoxy, as the normal plastic glues or solvents will not react with the resin.

Quickboost has molded the parachute and parachute housing perfectly in light grey resin with no apparent bubbles. The Quickboost parachute and parachute housing provide you with no mold seams to sand off. Be very careful removing the part from the resin block, it is incredibly easy to accidently break either of the two housings. I used a photo-etch saw to remove the kit housing and then trimmed with a #11 scalpel blade. You will want to be careful since the housing is not a straight line and has several angles involved. Total preparation time for the Quickboost parachute housing and parachute, not including painting, was under ten minutes and that is taking care to cut off the pour block properly.

I painted the assembly with Vallejo Metal Colors Aluminum followed up with some detailing with Vallejo Metal Colors Dark Aluminum. The data panel is Vallejo German Grey with a wash of Vallejo Smoke. The only thing we need now is a data panel decal!

This product is an excellent way to display an open parachute housing on your Eduard MiG-21 and is well worth the time and cost if you wish to open up the parachute housing. I would suggest you add this assembly near the end of your build as it is quite easy to knock off. This product is highly recommended due to the ease of use, superior appearance of the Quickboost parts, and added detail.
