The usual comments of appreciation to Ross at SAC for continuing to provide us review items; we at IPMS USA sincerely appreciate your contributions!

Unlike other landing gear on kits, Kittyhawk have provided a sturdy but complex design to emulate the actual landing gear on the Mig 25. If you have ever worked on or around Russian gear, you know that it is built like a tank, but sometimes can be a bit complicated. The Mig 23 comes to mind, but surprisingly the Mig 25 main gear is ALSO a complex assembly.

As you can see by the pictures, a grand total of 11 parts are used for each main gear, including the metal rod. Now, you CAN use all this, and in the end have a sturdy gear (See side by side of kit gear unassembled plus assembled). Or you can make your life a bit easier and use the SAC gear. There are still three extra linkages to apply with your favorite metal cement, (I use CA), but the gear will not bend, splay out, or have the axle break off when you are installing the wheels.

The nose gear is a direct replacement for the one-piece kit item… that also fits nicely, and provides the same level of strength and “peace of mind” as to the axles. I have seen (and had) so many models ruined by weak gear legs.

As usual, I cannot say enough about the SAC gear other than they are a great investment. With the cost of kits these days, the gear is almost a mandatory outlay.

Thanks again to Ross and SAC for producing one more in a long line of fantastic metal gear for our modeling enjoyment!
