Decal Package

Eduard has turned out an excellent 1/48th scale Bf-109E-4 kit for us that has sparked a new interest in one of the most modeled aircraft ever. But, who can ever have enough 109’s? Even though you get markings for five separate aircraft in the Profipack kit, Eduard has produced a decal sheet with another five aircraft for us to choose from. The decals are printed by Eduard in the Czech Republic on a 3.3” by 7.5” sheet and is accompanied by an 8.3” x 11.6”full color foldout depicting the decal placement for each of the aircraft, as well as a general scheme depiction that includes color callouts for Gunze Sanyo paints.

Aircraft included are:

  • Black chevron, flown by Hauptmann Rolf Pingel, 1/JG 26, Audembert France, November, 1940
  • Green 1+I, flown by Hauptmann Walter Oesau, 3/JG 3, Desvres, France, November, 1940 to February, 1941
  • Yellow 5+I flown by Hauptmann Egon Troha of 9/JG 3, Desvres, France, September, 1940
  • White 13 flown by Hauptmann Walter Oesau, 7/JG 51, St. Omer-Nord France, August 1940
  • Black chevronI5, 2/JG 54, Arad, Romania, January, 1941

As with all Eduard decals, these go on very nicely, with very little need for setting solutions. These markings are not as thin as some of their stencil issues, but they do conform to the model surface very nicely and are in perfect register. There are no stencils on this sheet, just the aircrafts’ particular markings.

My thanks to Eduard for the review sample and IPMS-USA for the opportunity to review them.
