Werner’s Wings has been around for some time and is known primarily for rotary wing subjects offering resin, 3D printed details and decals in 1/32, 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72nd scale. Their attention to detail rivals all other resin and decal companies on the market and that can be attributed to the owner, Floyd Werner, who retired from the US Army as a Cobra attack helicopter pilot and continues flying the Cobra with the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation. Thanks to Floyd’s personal experience with rotary aircraft and his connections in the aviation community, reference material he uses can be trusted to be the most authentic.

This decal set comes with one large decal sheet and a smaller sheet covering individual aircraft profiles and comprehensive stencils. This decal set is nicely printed with zero register issues and with the correct colors. Here are two color schemes that you can make and it appears that there are only enough markings to make one choice of markings. The booklet contains two pages in full color instructions with one page dedicated to stencils. The aircraft covered are eight USCG from 2009 through 2016 for Kodiak, Cape Cod, Astoria and Elizabeth City, Clearwater, San Diego, Sitka and Traverse City locations. Paint colors are all specified in Federal Standard numbers which can easily be translated to most paint manufacturers.

Basically the only H-60 kit manufacturer out there (in 1/35 scale) that will get you close to the USCG configuration is Kitty Hawk Models, which ceased operations not long ago. The good news is another company picked up their molds so Kitty Hawk kits are now available again. The preferred kit to use for this subject is Kitty Hawk’s HH-60H “Rescue Hawk” (KH50010) and Werner’s Wings offers additional resin details that you can update this kit to the correct configuration. This resin set includes this decal sheet so it’s an “all in one” comprehensive package. If you have everything needed for external features, these decals will complete your build for markings.

Very fine work from Werner’s Wings and I plan on going to Werner’s Wings decals first on future helicopter builds. It is nice to see a company covering the rotary wing subjects with this much dedication. I would like to thank Werner’s Wings for this review sample.
