ICM has been releasing quality kits, figure sets, and recently paints to support their vast library of releases. This is a new sort of release for me as included in the card stock envelope are sheets of decals that the modeler can use to add unit patches, shoulder boards, and ribbons to your Ukrainian 1/35 figures, as well as digital camouflage for the Kozak-2 models in their line. The cover art of the envelope lists the set has 468 combat unit patches of AFU, 56 patches of AFU, 34 shoulder boards, and 2 sheets of decals for the Kozak-2. For a little bit of bling, the set comes with a Ukrainian patch as well.

What’s Inside the Envelope

This set really covers any sort of addition to the figure uniforms you might want to utilize. The sleeve insignia includes a set for various armed forces, and is further broken down into mechanized, motorized infantry, mountain assault, tank, and artillery brigades. Also in the mix are air assault, Marine Corps, and individual divisions. Sections are shoulder boards, flags of Ukraine, and other patches.

Ukrainian military vehicles, in turn, feature a camouflage pattern that is unique to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, consisting of two types. The first, introduced around 2016, features brown digital squares in black, yellow, and brown colors. The second type, introduced in the summer of 2021, consists of pixel squares in two colors: yellow (sand color) and green (sagebrush color). Both types are widely used in the Ukrainian army for camouflaging various types of military equipment.

I didn’t have any of the Kozak-2 kits to test them on, but I did have some Miniart tank crew figures. The carrier film needs to be trimmed close to the decal, which is not easy on this scale. They snugged right down and reacted well to decal setting solutions. I have attached a couple of shots of the patches, including the flags, on the left arm to give you an idea of how they look. This set is great for making your figures stand out with a bit of extra detail. The patch has a Velcro backing and I look forward to adding it to my shop's collection of artwork and stickers.
