AoA (Angle of Attack) decals: Continuing their focus on Vietnam War subjects. We sincerely appreciate AoA sending IPMS/USA their latest release for review (and thanks also to IPMS USA Reviewer corps leadership for sending this sheet my way).

This decal set includes stenciling for two aircraft, so you can get two, maybe three marking options out of your investment if you are careful. The modeler is up front provided options to build at least two of 14 different O-2 aircraft.

First offerings are painted the plain “vanilla” gray with white top wings, (to help them stand out from the jungle and clouds). There are 8 subjects with different tail, zap, and other markings, including one South Vietnamese marked aircraft. Three more options are painted overall black for night interdiction on “the Ho Chi Minh Trail”, or ‘The trail” if you prefer, where they operated with AC-130 and other gunships in tearing up the supply chain. Also included on the sheet are markings for three separate Vietnam camo, tan/green x 2 over light gray birds, which are PSYOP “BS Bombers”.

On the instructions this is also noted: To date, Roden have not released an O-2B with the speaker, leaflet tube, and spinners on the props. I anticipate this will come in due course. You will, for now, have to fend for yourself and scratchbuild for the Bravo.

As on previouis AoA sheet review items, I was (again) very impressed with the decal quality and performance on the model. All stencils are readable, and the accuracy and level of fidelity to color and density is excellent. The white markings did not allow background colors to show through, and the various color areas were opaque to the point they did not need any white backing (such as small lettering).

All in all a great Package from AoA decals, 10 of 10 for subject, presentation, and performance! I was so impressed I bought a second sheet… more options to come.

With many Vietnam aircraft not addressed by others with decals in this scale, I look forward to what AoA comes up with in the future. Full 10 score here, well done AoA!
