The pilot figure and parachute arrived in a 4 inch x 6 inch clear blister pack with the parts protected by a soft foam insert. A very nice color drawing of a USN pilot in flight gear is included, providing a great painting reference. The parts are crisply molded in gray resin with pour stubs conveniently located for holding during painting and nearly-effortless subsequent removal. The equipment and facial expression details are very well-defined. The standing pilot is wearing a standard parachute harness, goggles-up on helmet with headphones, oxygen mask with hose, and what appears to be a Very pistol in a chest/shoulder holster. He is squinting, suggesting bright conditions. Completing the equipment components are extra flares in belt pouches, a gloved left hand, a right hand holding a glove, and a seat parachute. The parachute has excellent harness textures and a rip-cord. The parachute straps needed no trimming to fit correctly into small indentations and glue points on the pilot. The parachute hangs down very convincingly, but is firmly attached using the glue points.

There is not a great deal to say about the minimal assembly in any great detail, other than there was very little preparation to do on the parts before painting. The very light flash peeled off very easily, leaving only a light molding line on the figure, a line easily chased off with the tip of a No. 11 blade. I chose to paint the parts separately before assembly. I did not verify that the figure is molded with equipment specific to the F4F, but everything looks good. I believe this pilot could be used in a variety of settings with different aircraft.

I highly recommend this figure! Assembly and painting was a joy and the result is a splendid addition to the collection. I am certainly looking at Plus Models for other products to use.
