Want an easy upgrade to your Academy or Eduard F-4 Phantom II? Step right up to the new Quickboost F-4 Arresting Hook set that provide a beautiful replacement to what is supplied in the kit. There are no instructions to identify where new Quickboost replacements go but it’s quite easy to understand where the parts go. The parts are packaged in the standard Quickboost re-closable packaging with a paper stiffener.

These parts will fit the new tool Academy series of F-4 Phantom IIs that was released in 2012 (12232, F-4B; 12294, F-4C; 12294S, F-4C; 12300, F-4D; 12305, F-4J; 12310; F-4D) as well as the re-boxed limited edition Eduard kits (1186, Good Morning Da Nang!; 1190, Bicentennial Phantoms; 1193, Good Evening Da Nang!; and 1143, Rockin’ Rhino) I suppose you could use this set on any of the multitude other Phantom II kits available, but I have none available to test fit.

Quickboost has molded the arresting hook perfectly in light tan resin with no apparent bubbles. The Quickboost arresting hook is supplied as two parts on a single resin sprue with thin resin attachments to the parts that should minimize any cleanup. Although most paints will adhere to resin alone, I would recommend that you wash the parts to remove any remaining mold release and prime them first. They will need to be installed with your favorite CA (super glue) or epoxy, as the normal plastic glues or solvents will not react with the resin.

Be very careful removing the parts from the resin block. I used a photo-etched razor saw to remove the parts. Total preparation time to clean and glue the two parts was under five minutes.

This product is a good way to enhance your F-4 Phantom II and well worth the time and cost. This product is highly recommended due to the superior appearance of the Quickboost parts.

Thanks to Aires Hobby Models and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this set.
