I wish to express extreme gratitude to Yahu models for providing IPMS/USA with this release. Yahu has a history (since 2013!) of providing exceptional aftermarket Instrument panels at a reasonable price, and we appreciate their support!

Designed for ICM’s 1/48 DO-217N-1 model, Yahu’s instrument panel and associated radio tuning faces make an excellent upgrade for a world-class model. I had not built any of ICM’s Dorniers until this set showed up, and the fact everything was a perfect fit into the existing kit parts made the experience even more pleasurable.

Yahu’s set adds the additional bits required for an excellent upgrade out of the package. Yahu, unlike other companies, assembles their instrument panels for the modeler. Not that I don’t mind modeling using PE, but Yahu’s products are ALL this way (I’ve used others) and have been singularly impressed with the final product.

An instruction sheet is included; on some Yahu products, they even provide a “cut here to install in X model” diagram, so the panel will fit one of several manufacturers' products. Not needed in this case, but it shows Yahu is dedicated to serving the customer.

The Photoetch products, out of the sleeve, are phenomenally detailed. No misalignment, no problems with representation of the appropriate instruments; and a glass-like front for the instruments themselves. The color of the panel is a bit different than I needed, (More greenish tinge, don’t know what paint brand was used) but I left it as is due to it being so well done.

The radar control panel was similarly detailed, and the radar screen itself looked perfect when installed. Certainly better than I can do by drybrushing a plastic panel!

Out of the box, no modification to kit parts is needed except to remove any raised details (to ensure a smooth, tight bond between the kit instrument panel and the Yahu upgrade). A bit of Polyurethane glue worked great for a secure attachment, both with the instrument panel and the radio panels. Careful cutting on a hard surface will minimize the fret tag remaining on the parts; use safety glasses when cutting these off, as they WILL fly everywhere.

Some of the details provided by Yahu were minuscule, such as the compass mounted on the center of the control yoke. I had it on there at one point but my old hands and eyes didn’t notice I had accidentally knocked it off. (sadness).
