This Revell ’57 Chevy is just a wonderful kit with very little, if any, flash.

Engine

The kit provides 2 small block engines but only 1 set of heads and oil pan. The parts fit together just perfectly. Instead of the single or dual quad setup, I decided to use the fuel injection pieces left over from the Revell Black Widow kit.

Chassis

Beautiful chassis that has separate front & rear suspensions and 2 separate exhaust systems. I cut off the end tips and replaced with polished aluminum tubing.

Interior

I love it! The side panels are separate pieces and are extremely well engraved enabling easy detail painting. Included in the kit are decals for the dash gauges, seats and side trim. I added a set of “Heartbeat of America” floor mats.

Body

Very little cleanup of flash or mold lines was required on the body. You get separate door handles and small trim pieces. The hood ornaments appear to be on the large side but don’t really detract from the overall appearance. I was slightly disappointed the kit didn’t include decals for the side panels. I used gold BMF and put a flat finish on them. Included in the kit are the convertible boot and an up top. The body was primed with Duplicolor sandable primer followed by a base coat of HOK solar gold and then a few coats of HOK pink pearl. The body was then cleared with Nason 2 part urethane clear and was sanded, polished and waxed.

All the kit components fit very well and there was very little flash and mold lines to deal with.

This was an excellent kit to work on and Revell needs to be commended for their craftsmanship. Thank you also to IPMS for allowing me to review this most wonderful kit.
