The '57 Bel Air is truly one of the most beloved cars in the history of the automobile. Its unique styling is unmistakable. I was thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to build Round 2's newest creation. It is released under their series of cars entitled "the Car Culture" series. Everything comes molded in white so to me that's a good thing. It has no flash and the entire car is very intricately detailed. It contains 160 plus pieces including photo etched chrome.The chrome etching covers the namesake fins, as well as the front and back gold V's that require some gold paint to accurately depict them, as well as the 3 inserts in the front fenders. As of these pics I hadn't completed these yet.

The kit only comes with the stock hubcaps and thin wheels depicted on the photos of multiple cars on the box art. I chose to go into my parts bin and come up with wider tires all the way around, and a set of deep slotted dish wheels to hop up the appearance of my '57 . It also has rear fender skirts that are very appealing if you choose to go that route. I also heightened my car's stance to accommodate the wider tires. I painted the car in a metallic star spangled blue from Testors, over a primer coat of flat gray. I did the interior in a matte gray finish. The car has, as you can see from the pictures, an opening trunk that fits extremely well on its hinges. The inside of the trunk area has wonderful accuracy and detail to it, with room for a spare tire, and correct-looking inner fender well panels.The front wheel wells have the same care taken to its detail as well.

This for me was a wonderful and fun kit to build. The parts all fit together very well. I will purchase another one soon and build another version of this icon when they hit the shelves. Round 2 AMT should be commended for this modeling effort. The stylers at Round 2/AMT should keep this kind of detail in workmanship going, because the savvy modeler will most certainly appreciate it.
