Jagdpanzer SU-85 (R) w/CREWPublished:
HistoryThe SU-85 was a self-propelled gun. It was developed on the T-34 medium tank Chassis which also resembled the SU-122 assault gun. It was produced from 1943 through mid-1944. The 85-mm gun allowed the SU-85 to effectively hit enemy medium tanks at a range of over 1,000 meters and was able to destroy a Tiger tank from this range, rendering it a very capable weapon against the newer German tanks. Kit FactsThis kit is a Soviet SU-85 captured and put into service by the German army during WW II. This model is extremely detailed. It has workable track links, and five figures representing the crew. It has a total of 712 parts, 627 of which are plastic, 75 that are photo etched, 10 clear plastic parts, a decal sheet and an instruction booklet. … more |

German SU-76i with CupolaPublished:
What's in the Box?
BackgroundThe SU76I was based on the German Panzer III and Stug III chassis. It was armed with a 76.2 mm gun. Approximately 200 of these captured vehicles were converted by the Russians. A new superstructure enclosing the 76.2 mm gun was added to the tank. The tank was issued to self-propelled gun units starting in autumn 1943, but it was withdrawn from the front in early 1944. Some SU-76i were recaptured by the Germans who added a Panzer III commander’s copula fixed on the roof. I found this to be very interesting in that the… more |

The BuildLet me start by saying this was a fun build. It started out as an in box review but the model looked so cool it ended up getting built. You start by assembling the suspensions and the running gear. Do not glue part Ga 5to the leaf springs this will allow you to tip the trailer later to suit which ever vehicle you are going to connect it to. I also did not… more |

Toldi I (A20 - B20) Resin Detail SetPublished:
The Toldi I tanks entered Hungarian service about 1940. They were used by the Hungarian Army against Yugoslavia in 1941. They were mostly used against the U.S.S.R. between 1941 and 1944. Their primary role was reconnaissance, due to their light armor and good communications equipment. They were not effective against the Soviet T-34 when they encountered them in operation Barbarossa. When I opened the box I found: one small bag of resin parts, one small bag with photo etch parts, a die cut clear plastic sheet used for the headlights, and the instruction sheet. All of the parts are molded in a grey/green resin, and are crisp, very well molded, and have excellent detail. The replacement mufflers are a sight to behold, and will look excellent when installed. There are also… more |

BackgroundToldi tanks entered Hungarian service about 1940. They were used by the Hungarian Army against Yugoslavia in 1941. They were mostly used against the U.S.S.R. between 1941 and 1944. The primary role was reconnaissance due to their light armor and good communications equipment. They were not effective against the Soviet T-34 when they encountered them in operation Barbarossa. The Toldi II tanks were almost identical to the late Toldi I tanks. They were both built from parts manufactured exclusively in Hungary. MIM-104F Patriot Surface to Air Missile System M901 Launching StationPublished:
What's in the Huge BoxWhen I opened the box I was impressed with the numbers of sprues. At first glance it did not appear that this was going to be too difficult of a build. However, I later discovered that my assumption was incorrect. There are a lot of parts to put together, and you must be ready to devote some time into this model because it will take a while to complete. With that said, let's get on with the good stuff. Here is a breakdown of the items in the huge box. Kit contents
(An interesting note. This kit has no photo etch parts. You will also have a ton of leftover parts in the kit which all look like the belong to the HEMTT.… more |
