Sturmgestutz - ABT-226 On the Battlefield World War Two Photobook SeriesPublished:
The Book “Sturmgestutz- ABT-226 On the Battlefield World War Two Photobook Series” is a book published by Peko Publishing. The book is written by Ton Cockle and is in both Hungarian and English. The Book is 132 pages and takes you on a photographic journey in World War II with the German Army Sturmgeshutz unit ABT-226. The book is Hard Cover and is in Horizontal format. Much like the Squadron in Action books. The Book has a photograph and caption describing the photograph on almost every page. What I really liked was the descriptions of the photos include interesting tidbits or point out unusual things that were added in the field to the vehicle. It also has a wealth of photographs of not only the Strumgeshutz (Stug) but the other support vehicles used as well including a Famo… more |

Rust TexturesPublished:
I received four bottles ($3.95 each) of Rust Textures from Green Stuff World. Numbers 2776 thru 2779. They are formulated to simulate rust colors and have an added rust texture to them. The four colors represented the various stages of rust from a dark brown old rust color to a light orange fresh new rust color. Upon opening the paint, I found they were very thick and had a grainy texture. They and not a thin liquid like the average paint. No shaking or stirring was needed to prepare them. However, I do recommend tapping the bottom of the bottle in the palm of your hand to make sure that not too much paint is gathered in the lid. When using the paint, I found they cover very well and have a rough and grainy appearance. I painted the area I wanted to rust first with regular… more |

Liquid Pigments (Earth)Published:
I received the Liquid Pigments Earth set from Green Stuff World (GSW). They are pigments formulated in a liquid form. The six colors represent various types of earth colors and are Desert Earth, Ochre Earth, Light Earth, Medium Earth, Dark Earth, and Burnt Earth and you receive 6 bottles of Liquid Pigments - 17 ml. in each bottle. Upon opening the paint, I found they are very thin and watery but also very opaque. Each bottle has a shaker inside to help you with shaking and evenly distribute the pigments in the liquid. When using the paint, I found they cover very well, and they don’t appear very thick but when they dry there is a layer of pigment where the paint was that is already fixed in place. There is also the benefit of not needing a pigment fixer to bind them. I… more |

Dio Drybrush PaintPublished:
I received the Mig Ammo Dio Drybrush Paint Rust Color set. The Clear plastic container contained four bottles of what Mig refers to as Dio Drybrush paint. The four colors represented the various stages of rust from a dark brown old rust color to a light orange fresh new rust color. Upon opening the paint, I found they are thick and creamy and not a thin liquid like the average paint. No shaking or stirring was needed to prepare them. When using the paint, they did dry brush and cover very well. If you are familiar with the slap chop method of dry brush painting, they are perfect for that style of dry brushing which uses a wet heavier style of dry brushing. Cleaning up was very easy because they are acrylic-based and not enamel or lacquer-based paint. Whether or not… more |

T-54/Type 59 Visual Modelers Guide (English)Published:
This book is devoted to the T-54 and Type 59 tanks. It is a visual reference with a great number of photographs to help the modeler distinguish the difference between the variants of T-54A / Typre59 and T-54B. The book begins with a nice historical section explaining the models of the T-54 family. The timeline explains the changes that occurred to the models of the tanks in chronological order. After the historical section, you dive headfirst into the first photo section of the book that begins with the T-54 / Type 59. This section has several excellent photographs including extreme close-ups of the tank and its many details. The photographic section is broken down into two sub sections entitled Turret and Hull. The detailed photographs are excellent and were extremely… more |

Replacement Road Wheels for T-64Published:
The kit comes packaged in a small zip lock bag with a paper header that has the OKB logo the part number and the scale as well as a description of what is in the bag. In this case a complete set of road wheels for the T-64 type-1. The wheels are very well molded and are free from bubbles and the molding is very crisp. The detail on the wheels is outstanding and looks great. The resin wheels are a bit more detailed than the road wheels in a trumpeter kit that I compared them to and I will be putting them on the kit. Unfortunately, I do not own a Skif T-64 kit and would like to compare the wheels to that kit as well. But based on the level of detail and molding in the OKB I cannot help but feel they are more than likely better. The wheels are molded in sets of inner and… more |

The Weathering Magazine Green #29Published:
This issue of the weathering magazine is devoted to the color green. I found this extremely interesting because so many military vehicles are green as well as many other interesting subjects to model. The problem I have always noticed with models that are green or any other single color for that matter is they can be very monochromatic or otherwise kind of boring. But with the technics in this magazine you can transform your monochromatic subject into an interest and spectacular build to look at that will be anything but boring. There are several different types of articles in the book from various authors showing there weathering technics on green vehicles and are as follows:
