How To Paint With Acrylics – 2.0

Published:
Company: AMMO by Mig Jimenez

Over the last year I had the opportunity to review some products from Ammo by Mig and I have been impressed with their quality and ease of use. To the point that I started purchasing some other items from the line… but at times the online information is not completely clear on how to use the different products.

Enter “How To Paint With Acrylics 2.0” book. This book explains in great detail how to paint with the AMMO by Mig acrylics line, and also includes a lot of details on how other products of their line complement the acrylic paints, how to troubleshoot issues, and more.

The book is broken down in the following chapters:

  1. What is acrylic?
  2. Primer
  3. Airbrushing with acrylics
  4. Acrylics brush application
  5. Painting cockpits
  6. Decal… more

Bf 109 A/B/C/D/V Landing Gear

Published:
Company: Scale Aircraft Conversions

Scale Aircraft Conversions specializes in white metal replacement parts. Its line of replacement landing gear has been expanded to include a set for the Bf-109 A/B/C/D/V from Arsenal Model Group (note the boxing says “for Hobbyboss” but that likely is an error)

The set is including a total 4 parts covering the main landing gear struts and tail fork (two types of tail forks are offered). These parts are drop-in replacements for the plastic parts.

Considering that the Bf-109 is a modest size model - in 1/48 - I don’t think the reason to get a metal landing gear is due to the weight (unless you add a lot of resin to it) but rather the reason to get the set might be to be able to ‘tweak’ the landing gear strut for an improved alignment of the parts to achieve a proper… more

Tracks for T-34 mod.1940 Third Variant

Published:
Company: OKB Grigorov

OKB Grigorov specializes in resin, photoetch and turned metal barrel conversions for armor. One of their latest releases is the tracks for the Russian T-34 mod.1940 third variant.

This aftermarket set includes parts in grey resin. As you can see from the pictures, the casting of the parts is pretty good, without any bubbles in the resin and small attachment points.

This set provides you with 4 sections of track and the pictures show the fantastic level of detail of the tracks, both inside and outside sides.

The sections of track are cast flat, so you would have to gently bend them to shape, using the wheels from the kit to get the proper curvature radius. The resin is very thin, so this should be relatively easy. I would suggest to dip the tracks in hot water… more

Company: Mushroom Model Publications - MMP Books

The Polish Air Force during WWII fought in many fronts, under many different camouflage schemes and with a very large variety of aircraft. During 1939, it fought over Poland and later it became an “Air Force in exile”, fighting alongside first with the French Air Force first and the Royal Air Force later.

It should be pointed out that, while incorporated to with the RAF for operational purposes, the Polish Air Force remained an independent Air Force (hence the small checkerboard with Polish markings near the nose of the airplane) under control of the Polish Government in exile, in London. While there also were Polish pilots in the VVS (Soviet Air Force) those squadrons were not under control of the Polish Government in exile and they were effectively a regular Soviet squadron,… more
