Griffon Model from China specializes in photoetch, turned brass, and resin details for armor vehicles. This set, L35039, it is actually a combo including the L35037 and L35038 sets, one for the Sd.Kfz.10/5 and the other for the Flak 38 gun. This set is recommended for the Dragon 6677 kit.

The set includes a total of 16 (16!) photoetch fret, two brass rods, one hollow brass pipe, and some extra materials, like plastic rod and brass wire.

So, what parts do you get to upgrade with close to 300 photoetch pieces? Almost everything.

A partial list for the half-track includes:

• Lower and upper surfaces of the fenders
• Rifle racks
• Tool boxes and tool clamps
• Locking latches for the engine hood
• The driver’s compartment floor
• Gearbox and perforated heat shield
• Straps for all ammo boxes
• Latches for the folding rear platform

Included upgrades for the 2 cm Flak 38 include:

• The main shield,
• Upper shields,
• Details for the sight
• Gunner seat details
• The gun cradle and elevation hand cranks
• The ammo magazine tray
• Many boxes and latches

​One point I would like to make is that not all the frets have the same thickness. The shield frets are thicker than the others, which will look very good once assembled, as it more accurately reproduces the thickness differences found in the real life parts.

As mentioned, you actually get two individual sets in the combo, one for the vehicle and one for the gun, and you are provided with two sets of instructions. Each instruction set is six pages long, and both feature very well done drawings indicating what parts are needed in each step.

This set is for the ultra-detailed modeler. With close to 300 photoetch parts, you’d have to be. Personally, I would probably skip adding some of the details. With the armored cab, most of the parts related to the lower sides of the fenders/mudguards, gearbox, and driver’s compartment would not be visible. However, it is up to each modeler to find the right balance between detail and enjoyment.

In the end, I would recommend this set for the ultra-detailed modeler with plenty of experience working with photoetch pieces. Having said that, this set is outstanding!
