Another in a long line of excellent turned metal (brass) and resin items from Master Model. IPMS USA sincerely appreciates Master’s support of our reviewer corps!

Up front, Master provides turned-metal pitot probes and a resin vane set for the ultimate Su-25. As usual, Piotr provides a highly-detailed, more scale pitot replacement for the kit item. Metal and resin combined make for an unbeatable combination!

In side by side comparison, you can see the difference in the Master pitots and vanes verses the Kit provided plastic versions. The Master pitot is far more scale in appearance, and since it’s extremely thin, it pays to be careful with this set. Bend it and cry…. But at least it won’t break off!

This package contains two turned metal probes in a double-bag system; first, the outer protective card with details on the contents, then an internal “small” bag with the scale, strong air data probes. Also included is a resin vane set. Far superior to using PE and micro-gluing, this three-part probe wins hands down.

Installation

One probe is just a simple “glue in place” on the mounting hole. The second probe requires you to carefully slide the vanes onto the front and back portion of the probe. I recommend you install everything then slightly pull the parts apart and then slide together, wiping off the excess glue. If you apply the superglue beforehand, you may well have the glue cure while sliding the vanes over the probe, and they may not fully seat or the glue may “grab” and you will ruin the effort.

The vanes deserve special notice; I don’ t know how they are molded, but there is some flexibility on them, and they are extremely fine and tough. These make the set worth acquiring on their own! NO PE to fuss with, and the finished product is magnificent.

Watch your eyes and other sensitive bits when working with these; they could cause serious damage for the careless.

Thanks again to our friends at Master Model for this set. I built this kit without all the various aftermarket parts as a review about four or five years ago, and with all the improvements this pitot probe was the final straw to make me invest in a re-do.
