Unboxing

This kit is packed very nice. It has 11 sprues molded in light grey for the aircraft and armament and 1 sprue of clear for the canopy, for a total of 225 pieces. It came with 2 decal sheets. 1 is the “Tiger Stripes” for the “Luftwaffe, 1993” version, which I have been attempting to do. This kit also includes 1 sheet of photo etch parts. They are beautifully done. However, for me, these parts were too small for me to work successfully with them. The item I was most impressed with was 1 sheet of masking film, mainly for the canopy. These were extremely high quality and fit perfectly where they should go. They made painting the aircraft without messing up the canopy a dream. I have never been able to mask another canopy as well as I did this one.

The instructions were highly detailed and even in color in some steps, plus the 4 different color schemes you could do. The illustrations were just as detailed as the parts themselves.

Assembly

The detail on the kit, even being a much smaller scale than I am used to working with on aircraft, was extreme! I have never seen one of these aircraft in person, but the detail on this kit makes me feel that I have. The more this kit came together, the more this looked like it would fly off of my workbench! Pieces fit together without any problems at all. They fit so perfectly that I had to make doubly sure that I had actually glued the pieces together after the dry fit.

Issues

There were absolutely no issues with this kit at all, except for my painting problems. (Had issues with airbrush burning out on me and quality of paints used.)For the purposes of this review, I am calling this finished. Before I can continue with the armament and landing gear, I realize that I will have to strip the exterior paint and repaint, in order to do this beautiful kit justice.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed this build. Everything fit just like it was intended to. Even at the small scale it was beautifully detailed. This was my very first Modelsvit kit, but it sure won’t be my last. I encourage anyone who likes the 1:72 aircraft scale to check this kit out. You will not regret the quality, or the challenge of this one.
