Scale Aircraft Conversions (SAC) provides resin and white metal parts for scale model aircraft, most of which are drop-in landing gear replacements. Their standard packaging is a card-backed blister pack that should protect the parts, though one gear leg in one set was slightly bent went I opened the package.

The superb DBMK 1/32 Sea Fury kit was released earlier in 2026 and these sets from SAC are direct copies of that kit’s landing gear, including the main gear legs and various attached and associated parts. The early set, 32199, depicts the original Sea Fury landing gear that featured the Hawker standard landing gear leg, while the late leg, as depicted in set 32198, had an extra oleo section to better cope with shearing forces in cross-wind landings, and to help damp bouncing on landing.

No instructions are provided, as the use is fairly self-explanatory; being copies, the legs have the same attachment points as the kit parts and should be drop-in replacements, although the DBMK attaches via a brass rod, while the SAC legs have a slim white metal nub that seems at first glance potentially weaker and is definitely bendier. Because these are direct copies moulded from the original kit parts, the white metal pieces have lost some definition and finesse compared to the kit parts. In the accompanying photos, the kit legs are painted in Hawker Primer, while the SAC parts are unpainted.

The main purpose of these sets is to add strength to what can be a weak area in heavy models; however, DBMK provide a brass rod to insert into each gear leg that provides a lot of strength. I’m not sure that the SAC metal is necessarily stronger – indeed, one of the legs in one of the sets was slightly bent when I opened the packaging. Being white metal, it was easy to bend it back, but it isn’t a good sign! Only time would tell if the DBMK kit gear is strong enough, and the kit has only just been released. Therefore, I’m not sure what this set will actually accomplish; it is up to the individual if they feel this particular set is for them, especially at the price.
