Scale Aircraft Modelling is an excellent monthly publication focusing on modeling scale aircraft. No surprise there. And if you are a long-time fan of SAM, then it is also no surprise that I state that SAM is one of the best modeling magazines focused on aircraft that money can buy.

Averaging just under 100 pages, SAM is filled with “build” articles featuring some of the newer kits on the market as well as projects based on old favorites. In this issue (Vol 34, Issue 08), a number of featured articles span subject matter from World War I to jets, but the premiere article features the B-25.

Jay Laverty and Pat Sublemontier present an in-depth photographic reference for the B-25. Of course, the model around which this article is built (pardon the pun) is the HK 1/32nd B-25. The article really isn’t a review of the HK kit but rather it is a narrative which includes the load of aftermarket items that are made for use on the HK kit.

James Ashton contributes another article in this issue, this one featuring the Testors 1/32nd Dewoitine D.510. This article makes a great supplement for anyone building this interesting model.

Neil Pinchbeck shares his build of the Roden 1/48th D.H.9 Ambulance. I’m always looking for tips and techniques dealing with WWI subjects, and this article was of particular interest to me, especially the color images of the paint scheme.

In a five-page article, Karl Robinson shares his build project of the Airfix A-4B/P Skyhawk. The plentiful color images show a great paint scheme featuring some excellent paneling work.

Jeremiah Leuchas contributes his first article to SAM, covering the Special Hobby Fiat G.55A. The aircraft features Argentinean markings, which is not surprising since Mr. Leuchas is, in fact, Argentinean. This bodes well for future modeling subjects featuring Argentinean aircraft.

Additional articles, by author and subject, are Seb Videc’s build of the Cyber Hobby 1/200th YB-49, and Yoav Efrati’s build of the HPM Dagger, also in Argentinean markings. This article delves into the use of this aircraft during the Falkland War, also known as the Malvinas conflict.

As always, each SAM issue includes advertisements that will give the modeler some idea as to new products arriving in the marketplace, as well as where those products can be found.

SAM is high recommended. The reader is provided with simple descriptions of modeling techniques written by world-class modelers. Each article is accompanied with an array of color images that are as instructional as the text in the article.

Thanks to SAM for the review sample and IPMS/USA for the review space.
