Landing Gear for the HKM Lancaster B MK. 1Published:
Scale Aircraft Conversions, located in Texas, is well known to be a source of high-quality white metal landing gear sets for aircraft. Visiting the SAC Home Page on the internet, SAC states that, “We manufacture a line of white metal landing gear for 1/18 to 1/144 scale aircraft. Some sets consist of the main gear only while others include the nose gear, tail gear and/or adjacent related components. Some inaccuracies in the original kit gear have been corrected but the mounting points remain identical to the factory parts. With numerous sets we have not sought to duplicate non load bearing component parts where the factory plastic parts are reasonably accurate. “ SAC also notes that they have been in business since 1990, offering white metal and resin parts.… more |

British Aircraft of World War OnePublished:
The title of this publication is, “British Aircraft of World War One: A Photographic Guide to Modern Survivors, Replicas, and Reproductions". It is, indeed, a photographic guide. Every page of the 128 pages in the book contains at least one photograph. Some of the images are of aircraft that date back to World War I, those being the Survivors. Also covered in text and photographs are replica aircraft and reproductions. In the “Author’s Note, definitions of these three types of aircraft are provided. In short, original aircraft are those which contain a “significant number” of original parts, although much of the aircraft may have been restored. “Reproductions” are defined as newly build aircraft which were constructed using similar materials and building methods. A replica… more |

Normandie 1944: 2.
In English - This is a magnificent publication, rich in prose and photography. Presented in the French language, my lack of command of French means that I am missing out on the quality of the prose, but the photography and the captions for the images does not require precise translation. This Is the third volume with the previous two volumes having been reviewed by IPMS in the past year. A message on the final page of Volume 3 states that a fourth and final volume will see the light of day, covering the period from Oct 1944 to May 1945… more |

Raptor PilotsPublished:
Cozmic Scale Models has created a set of Raptor Pilots in 32nd scale that can be used to “crew” a Battlestar Galactica Raptor. There are two sets of the Raptor pilot figures, one with the crew wearing their flight helmets, and the set being reviewed, not wearing their helmets. The helmets are, however included in this set. It is not intended to have these two figures wearing their headgear, and in fact, the helmets cannot be placed on the figures unless some surgery is done to the helmets. No worries, though. There is a set of these figures, with helmets being worn, if that is your interest. The figures are cast in resin, each figure being a single piece. There are no seams that need to be filled and no flash to be removed. The casting has a considerable amount of detail. The… more |

Cross & Cockade 2022 CalendarPublished:
A note about the price of the calendar; The C&C website shows the price in Pounds Sterling and not in Euros. The 2022 issue of the Cross & Cockade calendar continues the well-established tradition of past year’s calendars: that being of high quality with excellent artwork. As in past years, you are advised to order your copy now, and not wait. There may be a limited supply of these calendars and you do not want to miss out because you waited until the supply ran out. According to Roger Tisdale of Cross & Cockade the profits from the sale of these annual Cross and Cockade International Calendars go to assist in the upkeep of the British Air Services Memorial at the St-Omer airfield in northern France”. This is a very worthy cause and deserving of your support.… more |

Messerschmitt Bf-109 F-G Color Profiles and DecalPublished:
Information from the Product Web PageThe Bf 109 F (Friedrich) is the successor of the E version with the same engine in the DB 601E version - produced from the turn of 1940/1941. However, the airframe changed the external appearance completely: a new propeller cap was used, the front part of the fuselage was completely changed using a more rounded engine cover and the shape of the wings was changed from rectangular to rounded. The maximum speed at a ceiling of 6,000 m was 635 km/h. It was armed with two MG 17s and one MG 151 cannon. The Bf 109G (Gustav) was equipped with a new DB 605A engine, some versions (G-1, G-3, and G-5) were equipped with a pressurized cabin. The first examples left the belts (ed: “belts = assembly line) in the spring of 1942. The armament… more |
