PJ Productions from Belgium makes resin aftermarket accessories for aircraft, as well as some very nice resin aircraft kits. Among their many products is a series of aircrew figures ranging from WWI pilots through sitting and standing pilots for all the major combatants in WWII to modern pilots from Vietnam era through the most modern. These cover American, British, German, French, and Russian style helmets and crew equipment molded on the figures.

This set consists of four figures to man a European Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter, two pilots and two rescuemen. Of these, one is standing with a hand up, as if he’s standing on the skid of a helicopter guiding the hoist cable. This figure was missing the ends of the fingers on one hand, apparently a minor miscast. The second in kneeling, as if he’s inside the cabin of the helicopter, also guiding the hoist. The figures are well animated, with the pilots’ heads turned and the hands placed so as to be holding the controls. The kneeling figure is in four parts: upper torso and head, lower torso, and two arms. The parts fit together well with only minor filing and possibly a bit of filling around the waist. I’ve given the figures a dark wash to help the detail stand out a bit.

For those of you who like to populate your aircraft, PJ’s figures are a good choice. With the selection of countries and types of aircraft the aircrew are meant for, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a set to fit your next kit. Recommended.
