This has got to be the best time to be a modeler of modern Russian aircraft. I remember as a helicopter pilot in the Cold War, it was virtually impossible to find photos of aircraft let alone weapons systems. Advanced Modeling is the latest from the Russian manufacturers to represent missiles and bombs. This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to review this company’s products. All I can say is wow!

Packaged in a self-sealing bag, a card stock backing keeps everything safe. The instructions are glued to the backing card. They are beautifully printed on two folded pieces of paper. The instructions are written in Russian and English. The drawings are some of the most detailed drawings I’ve seen. The instructions even include some of the capabilities of the missile. Something unheard of during the Cold War. The instructions are broken down into two separate assemblies. The instructions also have the decal locations prominently displayed so there is no question what goes where.

The actual missile parts are molded in light grey resin. The complete set has two launch rails, two missiles with four separate fins. The fins are very thin so care will have to be exercised when removing them. They are carefully safeguarded by some resin blocks. Also care must be taken as the exhaust nozzle is delicately molded on the pour block. It is easy to miss it. The detail on the missiles is impressive. The level of detail is exemplary. Also included in clear resin are the two seeker heads. These are packaged in a separate self-sealing baggie. They are very small so care will have to be used when removing them and adding them to the front of the missile.

A small fret of photoetch provides the four fins. Inside the same self-sealing baggie is a small but complete decal sheet. It is very compact so care will have to be used cutting them out.

The exceptional detail on the missiles, the inclusion of the photoetch parts and the finesse and completeness of the decals and launch rails makes this set stand out from the other Russian missiles I’ve reviewed. These missiles will make a great addition to your Russian aircraft. It is hard to beat the level of detail for the price here.

Highly recommended
