P-51 Mustang Decals Pt. 2
This is the second Lifelike Decals release for Tamiya’s new 1/32nd scale P-51, and it also gives two markings for the Revell 1/32nd scale P-51B. Maybe Tamiya will give us a gift sometime soon of a new P-51B, too. The selections are:
- P-51B-15-NA, 42-106924, “Salem Representative”, flown by LT Ralph Hofer of the 334th FS, 4th FG stationed at Debden AB in England, June 1944.
- P-51D-5-NA, 44-14059, “Skyczar”, flown by Captain Fred Munder, Jr. of the 381st FS, 363rd FG Maupertus, France, July-August 1944.
- P-51B-10-NA, 42-106647, “Big Mac Junior”, flown by Captain John Brown, Jr. of the 382nd FS, 363rd FG, Maupertus, France, August 1944.
- P-51D-20-NA, 44-72322, “Nancy Lee”, flown by LE Richard Bagget of the 402nd FS, 370th FG Geutersloh, Germany, May, 1945.
Two 8.3” X 11.7” color instruction sheets give a short history of each aircraft and its pilot, plus full color side, top and bottom views of the aircraft. There are also ten references listed. A 5.9” x 8.2” sheet gives all of the stencil placements. Two 5 ½” x 8” decal sheets are provided, with extremely thin, perfectly registered printing. A third small decal sheet has the nose art for “Salem Representative” and “Nancy Lee’s” right side nose art done in two-part decals. The artwork is very detailed. Only one set of stencils is provided, but markings are given for both Hamilton Standard and Aeroproducts propellers.
These are limited edition decals, as is Part 1, so I don’t know how long they will be around.
Thanks to Lifelike Decals and IPMS/USA for the review samples.
