Model Art Magazine is a monthly magazine that covers aircraft, armor, ships and car modeling. Model Art started releasing magazines in 1966 and has evolved from there over the past forty eight years.

The October issue starts off with several small articles which include the IJA/N Airplane Illustrated and a build article on the Tamiya 1/35 WW1 British Tank Mk. IV Male. This features a beautiful diorama and photos of a Mk. I, Mk II and Mk. IV and a opened up MK. IV.

The main article this month features the IJN Carrier Akagi shown through models in the different configurations of it's career. This article consists of thirty two pages and utilizes several 1/700 scale models and one 1/350 models. Most of the configurations are of the single flight deck, but one model is of the "Three flight deck" version. This aricle consists of multiple color photos and many helpful tips on making the most accurate looking Akagi.

Following the main article are several small monthly reoccurring articles. Some of these articles are Union Fleet Organized Course and Modeling JASDF.

The last couple articles are monthly features. The first is the New Kit Review. This months new kits are as follows. Zvezda 1/72 Su-27SM, Hasegawa 1/72 Su-35S, Aoshima 1/24 AWS210 Crown Hybrid "Royal Saloon", Kitty Hawk 1/48 F-101C "Voodoo", Trumpeter 1/35 TOS-1A "Buratino", RS models 1/72 Ki-61 II Kai, Airfix E.E Lightning F.2A and the Tamiya 1/700 CV-3 Saratoga. The rest of the magazine consists of future releases of models and model products, book review and hobby shop ads.

Even though Model Art is mainly printed in Japanese, I still find it to be a very valuable resource. For those that are more technologically advanced there are apps that will translate Japanese to English. I use one of these and it really helps to understand the articles. I recommend Model Art to modelers as another publication that you can pull information from.
